This is a lovely place to make as a base for bird watching around the salt pans, for a day trip to Erice and for visiting the Salt Museum. The staff is very friendly and helpful and the rooms are clean and quiet.

Lovely, tasteful hotel in a peaceful location by the salt marshes near Trapani. The hotel is a traditional Sicilian baglio (ancient farm with a central courtyard) very prettily decorated There's a gorgeous swimming pool area with lounge chairs. One definitely needs a car. The area itself is a little underwhelming, but within driving distance you have the beautiful Greek temple of Segesta, not to be missed! Breakfast is very good, with lots of fresh fruit (pomegranate, etc) of good quality The windmills and salt are interesting, but the very best ones are by Marsala, a short drive away. the staff is friendly and helpful and the room was large and clean, even if a little dated. Regretted not eating in their restaurant ( with a view of the salt pans): we went instead to a Trapani restaurant and got sick for a week from mussels!

Room Tip: Our room was on the ground floor not far from the reception with a wonderful bath and a nice window (may be # 105)

We stayed here one night, to spend some time in the west of Sicily before our flight.

The place clearly had a great deal spent on it, a few years ago now, so is starting to show a little age! Its in the middle of nowhere, which is not a probable at all, just be prepared. (and the restaurant next door is ok ish!)

Pool area was a lovely sun trap. Room was fine, but very bare and just missing that extra touch that would make it special.

Staff were very helpful, but massively let down by the breakfast staff, who really didn't want to be there.

Don't expect juice at breakfast, or bowls for your cereal or yogurt, and be prepared to chase them to get a coffee, as they certainly wont ask you if you would like anything!

Kind Adrian, thank You for the review, for us always an opportunity to improve our job. To be honest, I think Your review was a little bit severe, in particular when You wrote about the room and the breakfast. Our breakfast buffet is equipped with lots of product and dishes, above them You find a cereal distributor (with 3 different kind of cereals), single-dose fruits yogurt, white yogurt and, obviously, bowls to eat; juices are served in carafes. Maybe You didn't notice them... on the contrary, I really don't understand Your disappointment. Moreover, our lady to beakfast desk prepares coffe for Guests who want and ask for it... sorry if she didn't reach You to the table asking for Your needs, but, sometimes, Guests don't appreciate this "modus operandi". Overall, I hope You'll have the possibility to come back and live better Your stay to Relais Antiche Saline. Regards, Monica

We didn't actually stay at this hotel, but ended up here looking for somewhere to wait whilst our hire car had it's tyre repaired. I left two children and my wife at the hotel for over 6 hours, and they were really well looked after. The bar waiter even put the football on for my son and supplied drinks and food etc.I would definitely recommend a stay here as the staff are so lovely and the hotel looks really comfortable. The receptionist even rang the hire company for me to try to help with sorting the problem out. A piece of advice: don't hire a car from Italy Car Hire at Palermo airport, or if you do, check that the car has a spare. The "slime" repair kit did not work. The staff at the hire company were not very helpful with sorting out the problem and it spoilt what started as a really good day trip. We did, however, come across some really helpful and kind Sicilians!

Dear Mr Chris,
thank You for Your very kind review. Your family and You are very kind and polite people; we are a Staff who work hard to give the best holiday to Guests who choose us but, at the same time, we are always happy to be useful to people who need help! We are Sicilian people, we have the sun inside and always the smile in the mouth! My colleague Alessandro and I were very sorry for the inconvenience You had with the car Company... we understood Your difficulties to be in a foreign place and we made all possible to give serenity to Your wife and kids mostly. We hope to see You again, to offer something to drink or, why not, as our welcome Guests! Good luck, Monica

We stayed for two nights in this hotel during a cycling holiday. The hotel is beautifully decorated in blues. There is a small courtyard which the rooms and the breakfast room/bar lead off. It is in the middle of salt flats and the restaurant associated with the hotel is about 500 metres away. The hotel is quite isolated so there are not many options for eating out unless you have a car. The pool area was nice, and there is a small pool of salt water (which has a bizarre pinky orange colour) if you want to try it. There are lovely views across the salt flats and as it faces west sunsets are good. Staff were friendly and helpful. The room was not large but it was comfortable and very clean. The bathroom did not have a bath, just a shower. Unfortunately the window was above head height so we would recommend booking a superior room so you can see out of the window! Breakfast was the best we had in 10 days in Sicily. Plenty of choice and lots of cake! Unfortunately the dining experience in the nearby restaurant was not as good as the rest of the hotel. I have reviewed the restaurant separately...portion sizes were incredibly large so don't order a full blown Italian four course meal!
