This restaurant has tables outside as well as in. Depending on the weather the tables outside are the best place to sit. Great service, lovely polite waitress, Food is typically Portuguese, try the octopus stew - soft, tasty octopus in a tomato and red pepper sauce. Bife steak Prego - go for the large size, its a good plateful for lunch. Notice that they do small portions which are great if you just want a snack. House white wine is delicious.

Gorgeus fish (we tried two different), plastic equipment, hearty waitress, though you may need phrasebook to comunicate. Price moderate but not very cheap.

The prawns and fish were both excellent here (as you might expect in Madeira) but make sure you are hungry if you go for the fish stew. They certainly don't scrimp when it comes to the fish - excellent value.

We knew where we went - having best fish in Madeira - and we got what we wanted - the best fish stew in the island. Don't think about fine rooms or glamour in the atmosphere, no, it is not that style place. Just think about a cozy small family restaurant with super friendly staff and chefs who know what to do with fresh fish. Portions are seriously big, but we were honestly informed, that 3 for 4 is enough, if two of us are ladies. What can be a better reason to leave some small tip? :)

Have visited on a few occasions. Today's visit was typical - friendly staff, excellent fish dishes, competitive prices and good service. If you are looking for a good local restaurant with quality this is definitely worth a visit - not the most stylish place in Madeira but locals always outnumber tourists, which speaks for itself, and food is superb. Takes 25 - 30 minutes to drive her from Funchal.
