Have stayed here twice now and it's one of the best hotels in this area. The family who owns & runs the restaurant is truly some of the warmest people I have ever met. The food is wonderful and everything is homemade. They take pride in this and it shows. Next year I will be back!!!
Love Estelle & Richard

Stopped here while on the alternate route from La Spezia to Parma. An excellent choice. The menu features mountain specialities, like cinghiale (boar) and fungi ( mushrooms). Served by the owner, all in Italian. Throughly enjoyed the food, the atmosphere, the hospitality and the view.

Local cuisine prepared with excellent quality ingredients and care.

The restaurant is at the heart of Montelungo, a lovely historical village on the ridge of the Appennine Mountains. It is family owned and has been operating since the late 1800's. It has ample space inside as well as a nicely shaded large area otside. The inside is worth a visit for the historical photos and documents displayed on the walls and a display table.

The antipasto included prosciutto, salami, coppa, small pieces of torta d'erbe ( a delicious vegetable 'tart'), porcini mushrooms, tiny onions, and two types of absolutely delicious fritters: the first made with flour and chopped zucchini flowers, and the second with naturally sweet chestnut flour only.

There were many choices for the first course - all of them locally well-known. We chose the vegetable ravioli ( or tortelli) served with olive oil and grated parmigiano reggiano and tagliatelle with two sauces: one with fresh porcini mushrooms and the other with wild boar. The portions were abundant and delicious.

We could have stopped at the first course but the owner (Alberto), suggested we try a mixture of meats for the second course: lamb chops (breaded and fried), wild boar and side orders of baked potatoes and tomato salad. We thanked the owner for the suggestion.

We chose the locally made house wine - a fruity red which complemented the meal very well.

We finished with some of the house deserts (crostata and panna cotta) and espresso coffee.

A wonderful meal at a very reasonable price. Highly recommended.

Very welcoming and homey restaurant/inn with beautiful outdoor seating on the road over the Apennines. Home-cooked cuisine includes torta d'erbe, a vegetable tart containing fresh picked greens and/or potatoes, testaroli, a local pancake-like pasta, and other specialties. Charming lunch spot after a long-drive.
