So the original plan was to go to Panhala Hill station for a long weekend, but then we decided to keep the base at Kolhapur and explore Panhala and Amba Ghat on two different days.

We went from Mumbai to Kolhapur and this was a driv for around 380 kms, we hired a 17 seater Tempo traveller and paid 19rs km and Rs. 1000 for permit and driver charge with a minimum of 1200 kms for 4 days as charge i.e 300 kms per day was the minimum charge. The roads are beautiful not even a single km of bad road. Since we had a tempo traveller and took 3 breaks we reached in 9 hrs but otherwise I recommend go by your own car if you love driving and want to cut down on the travel time.

In Kolhapur you have a Lake to see and beautiful Mahalaxmi temple, dont miss it.

Well Panhala is around an hour and a half drive from there, actually Panhala is a fort and a mini city is now built on that fort, it has around 14 different points, pl hire a local guide without whom you can enjoy the place. It is for history and nature loves. We had hired an amazing guide that was Ram 7057569900 this is his number.

Pl have amazing missal at Shri Sai missal specialist and zunka bahakar just besides that which is also named as sai missal. I am putting the pic here.

Next day we went to Amba Ghaat - Oh boy what a beautiful place. It is a scenic place and has a few waterfalls where people do go for a natural watefall bath - dont miss it guys. No place there to eat at all. But yes while on the way back to Panhala i.e in Malkapur a eatery by the name Hotel Milan - superb tea, Poha and Kanda Bhajji, dont miss it. I have put up a pic.

Well in Kolhapur we a group of 12 stayed at a 3bhk penthouse at Gulmohar Residency, an amazing place very very spacious, but pl keep all terms and conditions very very very very clear a very sliperry customer that he is. Needs to learn a lot of things as a host. Dont think about paying directly but book through a website.

Kolhapur is very famous for thousands of years; more recently during the Maratha history. Kolhapur' Mahalaxmi Temple is world famous and is estimated to be over 2000-3000 years old, with mentions in ancient Hindu Vedas and hymns. Apart from the Mahalaxmi Temple, there is plenty of Maratha history to explore and interesting places to visit. There is a tall Ganesh statue at Chinmaya Mission temple, Tara Rani statue, lots of engineering and medical professional educational institutions, universities etc.

Major tourist attractions are: Mahalaxmi Temple, Lake Rankala, Fort Panhala if Shivaji Maharaj, jyotiba Phule Temple, Shahuji Maharaj Museum, old palaces of Maratha kings/queens, etc.
