It's been eight full years since I last stayed at reviewed Dakak Park & Beach Resort, and truth be told, with the COVID-19 pandemic being what it is, I never actually thought I'd get to go back there, at least not this soon, but I am glad I got to go, this time with my wife.
At the outset I'd like to report, quite enthusiastically, that the room we stayed in was a huge improvement from the one I had stayed in eight years ago. It was basically the same room but comprehensively refurbished. Gone was the picture tube television and the non-functional intercom, replace with all modern amenities. I was very grateful for this.
I was also happy to see the beach again, which was really very welcoming for the most part, though the one aspect that my wife and I noticed was the culvert at the far right end of the beach from which wastewater from the resort spilled out into the sea. I am going to give the resort the benefit of the doubt and assume that the water coming out of this pipe has undergone some kind of treatment and does therefore not pollute the water that patrons swim in. I really hope that's the case. Apart from that, though, I was really happy to see this particular beach again.

How were the safety protocols? Well, I was very encouraged to see patrons wearing masks just about everywhere except for people sitting down to eat or people at the pools. There was hand sanitizer in abundance and reasonable distancing protocols. We were only allowed in after showing proof that we were vaccinated and that we had tested negative for COVID-19, something for which I was grateful because I know this was required of all other patrons.
Was there anything I was unhappy about? Well, the service at the dining area was a little dodgy. Specifically, I asked for a breakfast item on the menu (bacon) that was later revealed to be unavailable, and as soon as I learned it wasn't I asked for something else (ham), and after quite a bit of waiting I was then told that not only was this other item unavailable as well, but that the last of it had been served to a guest who I saw arrive later than me to the dining area. It was a bit irriating, and the food at the general dining area wasn't anything great, either.
Fortunately, there are a number of themed restaurants in the area so there are more food choices, and I'm happy to say that when my wife ordered at the sea-food/mediterranean themed restaurant closer to the beach we had a pretty decent experience, both in terms of the service and in terms of the food itself.
Overall, I was really happy to return to this resort, especially with my wife in tow, but there are some aspects of the experience that could definitely be improved.
In closing, I'd like to commend the hotel staff and admin for managing to attend to its guests in these difficult times.More
