Highland buses stop right at the hotel's doorstep. Staffs are all attentive and helpful. Hotel is old but clean with awesome view. The Japanese dinner was superb. There's a snow slide right in front of the hotel and they provide free snow boots, snowshoes and hiking sticks.

Very nice place. The rooms are excellent, Japanese rooms can accommodate 5 people. The services are excellent. Very convenient for us to stay a night before we continue the trip from Tateyama to Kurobe.
Good location, direct access by the bus.

The food was great. Very nice Japanese dinner provided. Great and stunning view outside the hotel. Easy to follow the path for trekking.

Highly recommend his hotel for other travellers. The hot spring is nice. Not a big one but enough for the guests.

I paid 36,000 yen for two people for one night , breakfast and dinner included, booked through booking.com.

The location is in an isolated spot (only one other building across the road) at Midagahara, on the bus route between Bijodaira and Murodo. When you get on the bus please tell the driver you are going to get off at the Midagahara stop which is 50 metres from the hotel.

Although I booked a twin room, we were upgraded to a larger family room with 4 beds facing the panorama and the sunset ie west.Rooms on the other side overlook the bus stop!

The room fittings were a little old and the beds Japanese firm but extra wide singles.A small modular bathroom including toilet.

WiFi in the rooms was a little slow at times.

The two dining rooms have panoramic windows.Lunch selection is very limited, expensive and not good quality. We should have bought lunch supplies from Toyama.

We were allocated the second floor upmarket restaurant for dinner .It was multi-course fixed Japanese menu and ,although I am adventurous, there were many things I did not want to eat.Unusually, there was a small buffet for dessert.Breakfast was a buffet in the ordinary dining room and I found it to be very average.

Staff were helpful and all had English including one with native speaker level.

The boardwalk around the hotel was enjoyable. The views were obscured when we arrived at 1pm but cleared later in the afternoon.

The hotel was nearly full.

Highly recommended as an overnight break along the alpine route.

One of the most scenic dinners I have ever had.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with panorama and sunset view on the west.

Once the rooms are ready, they will let us check in at about 2.20pm instead of strictly waiting till 3pm. There is a snow slide infront of the hotel and 3 other snow areas to take photos of the mountain ranges. Beautiful.

It may not be the best hotel, but Midagahara offers a great scenery and great walk out into the mother natures. It is located in the mountains area which simply allows sufficient time to leisurely stroll around the area. The resturant serve great dinner and traditional japanese breakfast!
