Run by family. Nice and clean hotel. Beach front with great view.
Near main road and convenient.
There's no lift facility.
Needed to lift your luggage by yourself if you are staying at upper floors. Try to book room at ground floor for easier access and to carry bigger luggages.
If you prefer to buy food from 7 eleven or other supermarket, there's microwave to heat up food.
There's also washer machine and dryer facility for a fee. Dryer usage for 20 minutes cost you 100 yen.

The hotel restaurant served pizza and some other western food.

Yep, I agree with other reviewers who said this is a keeper. Four of us (me, husband, son, son's friend) stayed here as part of an 8-day Hokkaido road trip, and we all loved it. I'd goofed up our first night's reservation -- which was scary -- but they made room for all 4 of us in the family-size room on the 3rd floor. Two beds and two futons, and it was so fun that I kind of wish we'd remained in that room for the rest of our stay. Clean, bright, beautiful view (eagles!), and friendly service.

Didn't try the pizza, but we can recommend the crab place that's on the way to the boat launch in "downtown" Utoro. As you approach the restaurant, keep an eye out for the fox family (kitsune) that lives in the bushes right near it. The ramen place between the hotel and downtown (~15 minute walk) was also good.

Oh, and the boys saw a brown bear on their hike up Mt. Rausu -- although the hike had to be aborted due to snow (not the bear).

Room tip: Third floor probably has best views

Great welcome, great view and great pizzas. This is a small family run hotel approximately a 15 minute easy walk from town. It's older style but immaculate and the lady that runs it is so welcoming. Impossible to fault especially in a town where there seemed to be a number of faceless tourist hotels. Wish we had booked 2 nights and used it as a base instead of of one night and then moving on to Rausu. Oh and the pizzas, as much as I love Japanese food we needed a change and this provided it. Happy to recommend.

Room tip: I think there may be a couple of rooms without a view, definitely worth getting one with a view.

Located on the waterfront with a view of the township and the mountain range behind this is a low key family friendly hotel. Very quiet as the main road has been rerouted through a tunnel. Nothing is too much trouble for the staff including arranging and escorting to last minute tours. The restaurant specialises in pizza; best eaten in Italy not Japan. Washing machine and dryer available. Excellent internet service.

Room tip: All rooms appear to have superior views.

The best feature was the big window in our bedroom looking out over Utoro, the harbour and the mountains on the Shiretoko Pass. A highlight was the white tailed eagle that fed on a crab right in front of said window. The restaurant did a wonderful pizza based on wild picked herbs - ascetic garlic. Best pizza ever so get it in the Spring. This a is not a pretentious, big hotel but a nice small hotel with friendly staff.

Room tip: Front room with view of harbour and a window that opens for air and ocean sounds
