I would say the hotel is just normal. Clean of course, with free Wi-Fi everywhere. The food was not great. The hotel is within walking distance to one of the chairlift of the Happo ski resort. However, if you need to visit others ski fields like Goryu or Iwatake, you need to walk 10 minutes to catch the shuttle buses at the big bus terminal. Few years ago, all the shuttle buses were free. Now, only 1 or 2 are free.

I had stayed at the Hotel Hakuba two times a few years ago and the food was better there.

This is the first time I ski in Hakuba, a brillant small village famous of skiing.

I booked the hotel via a Hong Kong travelling agency specialized in skiing trips.

The hotel, with two wings and 5 storey, is solely run by one family, and you can see the family members work very hard day and night to manage around 80 rooms. They serve with professionalism and pride.

I like food especially japanese food. Despite the hotel is not a luxurious one, as with most of the hotels at hakuba village, I was most surprised by the chef, who does devote to provide best food by his cooking skill and experience. For example, the tuna sashimi, as one of the dishes of the traditional set dinner, was not as the quality of toro (the fattest and luxurious part of tuna fish), but the chef add a bit of seasoned egg white onto the tuna, so that it kept the freshness of the flesh and adding with the oily taste of toro. The desserts are another first rated dish, mostly due to the professionalism and skills of the chef.

There is nothing to highlight about the tatami (mattress) room, and the onsen is small. However, if you still have some room for more food, do try the cup noodles, snacks and ice-cream that can be bought at the tuck shop and vendor machine in the hotel.

Lastly, despite Hakuba is a small village and most tourists are local skiiers, the founder's son of the hotel can speak english and is very smart to understand body language.

A great trip for me!
