The cherry tree in soham is typical meet and greet pub restaurant that offers cheap eats and you certainly get what you pay for. Poorly cooked offerings.

I was visiting my family in Soham on a Saturday in January. We had not made any arrangements for lunch so popped into the Cherry Tree. It’s a well positioned pub with good parking and is surprisingly large inside.
Tables are well spaced, in fact it looks a little underused, but everything was clean and spotless.
I had already checked whether they were dog friendly and was told that they were not allowed in the eating area, (of course), but were allowed in the sports lounge. This sounded ok until we saw it. Contrasting widely from the rest of the pub it appeared to be a dumping ground for things not needed elsewhere, was very untidy, and dominated by a loud tv! We should have left but didn’t so the four of us ate on two small tables feeling rather uncomfortable, especially when players arrived for some darts practice very close to us.
As described in other reviews the food served is typical ‘pub grub’, well cooked and exceptionally low cost.
Because it was a quiet time of the day staffing was low, but generally helpful except for the lady at the bar who was generally elsewhere or on her mobile, and not at all pleasant. Why do the job if you don’t like it?

popped in for lunch on a Friday afternoon, pub was quiet with about five tables busy.
Approached the bar with our food order only to hear the barmaid tell the gentleman in front of me there will be a half hour wait for food,we left! what on earth would they do if the place was full?
Have eaten here before and it is good food and value for money, shame.

We stopped here on our way home from travels on the 29th dec at 5pm. It was cold on entering the area to sit to eat which was not very nice. After shivering for a while we climatized , my curry was lovely and I really enjoyed it. All other meals were nice , apart from the skinny fries which were cheap oven chips and like eating cardboard. The tv in the booth is okay but can be annoying if you don’t actually want children staring at it (no option to turn it off or change Chanel etc). Some waitresses were friendly and helpful others looked like pure misery and was quite unwelcoming especially when ordering at the bar. Overall it was a good trip. I would go back as the curry was so nice. Please think about the temperature on freezing days as it was not pleasant on arrival.
