3 of us stayed her for one week after attempting to get here 2 times in the last 3 years !! Everytime we reserved something came up at home and we couldn't make it.
We had picked this place based on TripAdvisor and other reviews and had kept monitoring it over the last 2 years.
Casa arranged for our airport pick up and when we arrived and entered the reception we were greeted with smiles , cool drinks and towels and the most beautiful scent of fragrant oils in the air.
Check in was efficient and informative and our luggage was brought swiftly to our room.
We booked a Casa Seaview Deluxe suite on these reviews and weren't disappointed. two interconnecting rooms with a four poster bed and full double size pull out sofa bed for our daughter. TV and cable in both rooms and a shared excellent bathroom with a huge bath and rainshower cubicle. His and hers wash basins and plenty of space to put all your smellies and bathroom kit.
Our suite over looked the pool and beyond onto the white coral sand beach and turquoise sea. A balcony outside each of the bedrooms and full tea/coffee facilities and a well stocked mini bar.
The grounds are very very well maintained and everywhere we went was spotless and clean.
You walk straight through reception out of the rear doors and 30 yards and your on the beach !!
Breakfast was a good selection of Malaysian , European food and juices and set us up for the rest of the morning. You could go back to the buffet as many times as you like or have something off the hot menu.
The hotel has the best position on the beachfront at Pantai Chenang, pretty quiet and away from the water sport hawkers and crowds that seemed to mill much further down toward the town. It has a sectioned off area in the sea for swimming and free kyaks for use of the hotel patrons.
Swimming pool and pool bar area were very good and just a nice size.
Well situated for the numerous eating places, shops and Spa's along the main road.
I would recommend use of the Satkari Spa at the CDM which we did on a couple of occasions, (my wife 3 times, she recommends the 4 hour female pamper session !!). The quality of the treatments and the price compared to Europe or the UAE was, for us, first rate and the staff very experienced.
We only go B & B as we always like to eat out each evening so I can't comment on the dining experience although plenty of cars would pull up each evening with people dining on the beach in the candle light.
I would give a special mention to Ly-Ann on the reception who always seemed to be there regardless of the time of day. She was very cheerful, informative and friendly and is a great asset to CDM and David who always had a smile on his face and liked to chat to you. Free Wi-Fi but pretty poor reception all over. I had to use the hotel computer to access e mails but that wasn't much better.
Which brings me to two slight disappointments...sorry...
More than a few of the staff, particularly around and serving on the pool bar and at breakfast could do with cheering up some. It was a bit painful at times watching their sombre faces whilst serving customers. The pool bar above all is a place where you want to see character and friendly interaction with people.
Also the bar shuts at 11.30pm, which I understand and appreciate keeps the noise level down late at night for people in the villas around who may be sleeping.
We only sat on the loungers around the pool bar on a couple of occasions late as we usually either came back after the bar was shut or were already in our rooms but on the last night we came in around 10.45pm and decided to have a few night caps.
At 11.30pm we were asked if we wanted last drinks and ordered two rounds. By 11.50pm the staff had removed all the lights off the tables and switched all the lights off leaving us in total darkness. Considering there were two night staff on reception you would have thought that they would have left some lighting on for people and asked the night staff to clear the glasses and put out the lights at the pool bar once everyone had left. It was like being told it was bedtime and your not really welcome now thanks !!
It may seem a little picky but we are on holiday and were sat QUIETLY enjoying the relaxation not wanting to sit in the dark with our drinks.
These points are the reasons I reluctantly cannot give it the full five stars on service but having said this if this doesn't bother you then I can highly recommend that you make a visit to CDM. If we find ourselves returning to Langkawi then we would stay here again
One further comforting point I would mention is it's close proximity to a very modern and efficient Medical Centre only 400 yards down the road. My wife got an insect bite which started to get infected and we were quickly able to nip it in the bud with a consultation from the resident Dr and a short course of antibiotics antibiotics.
