Visiting Mclead Gang means being open to new experiences and this hotel was no exception. It was a bit cold, but being that high in the mountains you would expect that and we weren't cold at night in bed. The rooms were in need of some moderniation, but had great views of the mountain ranges and street market directly below. There was a restaurant and restaurnat cum disco that kept some of our group up at night, particularly Saturday night, when it turns into the local cattle market. It was also very noisy to eat in there if the other restaurant was closed for a private party.
Breakfast had a fair range of choice, and the meals we had at lunch and in the evening were large and tasty. The hotel also sold the local Himachal Pradesh red wine which was very palatable.
Some of the staff were a bit stern on occasion, and it was a bit disconerting to be presented with a feedback form every time you asked for the bill.
The wifi was ok in recention and the disco, but not available in the rooms. Mcleod Gang is such an odd, tourist infested, congested and polluted melting pot of a village and this hotel was probably just the right place to use as base.

The location of the hotel makes it special. Its just a walking distance from H.H Dalai lama Temple,Bazzar,Mcleo Square & the view from the hotel room is scenic. The bonus view is from the restaurant.I bet its the best in McLeod Ganj.Lift here goes down in-spite of going up,as the reception is itself on the 5th floor as its hill top.Staff is helpful but needs some professional grooming.Food order takes time to deliver.

Must stay if your budget allows it.

Room tip: Take room that has good mountain view.Avoid room just below the club.

A poorly maintained ageing (although not very old) hotel in the centre of Mcleod Ganj.
Well appointed bar disco which seems to be a favourite with the locals at the weekend.
Plenty of staff but not enough travelling-customer focus.
Loved Mcleod Ganj despite the hotel.
I won't be coming back.

Well the hotel is very centrally located so that's a great plus for the place. Everything is walking distance. Also they have very nice pub downstairs - good food drinks and loud and fun music.

Coming to the room (room no: 603 ), room is average size but clean. The best was the view of the valleys out of your French window which is amazing. The air conditioner gave us some trouble (well McLeod is hotter than Dalhousie and you will need it during the day) but evening becomes cold and they arrange a heater too. The bathroom is clean though the commode cover was broken. The staff is friendly and service was quick.

Now the dampener the food was very sad. We booked breakfast but the spread was the saddest and not at all worth it. In fact was so disappointed that ordered an omelette separately which thankfully was decent. My only humble request to the hotel is to improve this bigtime.

Else recommend this hotel for the rooms and location.
