“Fascinating house”

What a fascinating house this is. Leased by Colonel Lyle in a state of dereliction he filled the house with wooden panelling, staircases and fireplaces before giving it back to The National Trust with no financial gain to him or his family, just so the house could be preserved.

We went for the Easter decoration paintingvand left with national trust memberships and amazing memories.

We went initially for the wooden easter decorating event in the wood cutters hut. We went for walks all over the grounds. Through well presented gardens, and many if them! And ended up in the cage before home *please visit the cafe* AMAZING architecture and design.

I love going to cafes where the staff are very polite. Barrington court has just that! In fact ALL the staff were amazing. The staff at the front gate pointed us to our parking spot with lovely smiles.

Had no idea what to expect but the work put in to return the house to life in the early 1920's using wood panels and other items salvaged from other grand houses that were 'scraped ' is first rate. With no furniture you see the full effect of the work carried out. The artisan workshops are also worth a visit in their own right. We spent a very enjoyable and informative 3 hours there. All the staff we met were most knowledgeable and helpful.

This place stands out for its very large grounds and relaxing vibe in sunny weather (well, that's true of any NT place actually!). It's very charming what with its expanses of surrounding land and the twists and turns of the house itself. It's just a shame that the cafe is understaffed.
In all a great place that's definitely worth skirting off the M5 to visit for an hour or so.

As part of our local Dementia Action Alliance monthly Monday Meanders (a walking group for people living with Dementia and their carers) we organised a trip to Barrington Court. I can’t praise the staff enough for their support on the day. We had spoken to them prior to the visit and without exception from the moment we arrived staff were helpful and welcoming. We had a lovely walk through the grounds with coffee and cake in the restaurant. Some of our group took the buggy back to the car park (the driver was so accommodating all morning) and the rest meandered back through the grounds admiring the daffodils. Brilliant and enjoyed by everyone.
