We stayed one night at Marina Cottages. They have many types of rooms, for all prices. We stayed in a Deluxe room.
The room is nice, with AC and a bathroom with hot water. Bathrooms are badly maintained. We can say this because we’ve seen 3 before they could find a room where the water was actually warm…
We had dinner at the restaurant. The food was good.
What we regret about Marina Cottages is that the staff is totally clue- and helpless : they’d bring your beer but wouldn’t open it, then disappear. By the time they come back and we could ask them to open the bottle, it wasn’t warm anymore. Rooms that were supposed to have hot water didn’t have it, and they didn’t know how to fix it (they where actually fiddling with the AC circuit breaker, which helped me later on to fix our aircon problem as it wasn’t working in the room they eventually put us in). A couple of Brits were asking if we had warm water, because they didn’t have any. As a matter of fact, we were more perseverant, so we ended up finding a room where the hot water supply was actually working…
Breakfast is from 7 to 10 am, served as a buffet. When we showed up by 8 am, there were pretty much 2 tiny fish left with some rice. We asked if they could prepare more food. We got a few tiny pancakes. After eating these, we were obviously still hungry, but we were told there was nothing else to eat. So we advise you to show at 7 sharp in case you want to have breakfast.
One great thing about Marina Cottages is Mr Edy. He’s actually a travel agent, and he helped us book speedboat tickets to Wakai, and called our resort in Kadidiri to check availability. He is extremely nice and helpful.
So basically, if you are thinking to only spend one night in Ampana and need help to travel further, Marina Cottages is a good place. If you are planning on staying there for longer, I wouldn’t recommend the place… based on that single night experience.

About one of the most dirty places we stayed in Indonesia. The location is nice, on the seaside, with a pebble beach. Also the bungalows look very ok from the outside, but once you are inside... especially the bathrooms incredibly dirty. Beachfront bungalows have a very high ceiling, the AC is not able to cool down the room. Staff is friendly and helpful. Also the staff in the restaurant but they are not capable of running the restaurant. They have a very very limited menu, and even with this limited choice it took 1,5hours to serve a nasi goring and 45 mins to bring a fruit juice. And both were of a terrible quality, also about the worst food we had in Indonesia. Most people who come to Ampana just stay 1 night, on their way to or coming from Togian islands, as we also did.
The connected travel agency with Mr. Edy, is doing very good service and I can highly recommend him. We flew from Manado to Luwuk and Edy arranged a transfer by car from Luwuk to Ampana. I sent a mail to Edy, he replied very fast, and on the announced time we were waited by his driver at Luwuk airport. He was driving very safe and the price for the trasfer was very reaonable (850.000 rps) Luwuk is a very small airport, we did not want to go into a hazzle with a very limited number of local taxi drivers, so I thought it was better to arrange it in advance. And I think that was a good choice.

I recommend this for a place to rest if you are going to visit the Togean Islands. The place was just an average cottage, but they have bungalows on the very front of the beach. If you're going to visit Marina Cottage, I suggest you to call them earlier just to make sure so you can get the bungalow on the front of the beach. Amazing sunset!!

The area is really nice and they help you in organizing your ferry to Wakai BUT they just use their location to make money. The bungalows are not worth the prize at all - you don't have even a working shower and when you inform them it will take them an hour to fix it. At the end they even charge you for the transfer to the harbour although it is included in ferry transportation normally. It's one the worst accommodation which we had in South Sulawesi.

Decent place to stop if you can't get to togean islands the same day as you arrive in Ampana. I stayed in standard room A and it had a fan and was relatively clean. The shower head was not working though and the towels were ragged. Also there is no blanket so you have to sleep without one, which is fine because it's so hot.

Eddy is a good guy who helps out in any way possible but he's the only one who speaks decent English so if he's not there its a bit bothersome.
