This place is the tonkatsu (deep fried pork cutlet) equivalent to the many fast food beef bowl (gyu don) places in Japan. You sit down at the bar, point to what you want in the menu and you are served within five minutes. You are paying 500-1000 yen for a "combo" that contains a rice bowl, salad and miso soup - excellent value, good taste and perfect for those on the run.
It's not a place for you to sit and chat as there are a limited number of seats inside and often a lineup to get seated. It's not quite gourmet dining, but the excellent price makes up for this.
