We were in Tokyo for the cherry blossom and this was by far the best park. It also has lots of feature gardens and there will be colour all year around. There are ponds, plenty of areas to sit and good public facilities. Many people were having picnics when we visited.
Easy to access and a lovely way to escape the city.
Closed Mondays normally, but open every day during the cherry blossom festival time.

Wonderful place to see Sakura. The park was packed with people having ‘picnic’ on the grass as part of Cherry Blossom season. Would also look good in Autumn. Nice place for walk in Shinjuku.

Was here during hanami season and the park was packed but the park was big enough that it did not bother us too much. Part of the experience was enjoying the cherry blossoms with the local population and many beautiful more secluded spots.

My husband and I spend 30 minutes walked here and another 30 minutes back, but only got to spend less than half an hour here because of the schedule. However, we are so happy that we made it. On a Saturday morning, Gyoen was not as packed as many other famous place for cherry blossom, and we got to get a very close look of the very lovely flowers.

This park was a perfect area to view cherry blossoms and take a nap. Many people bring picnic lunches and it was a wonderful time to visit.

Unlike a lot of parks in the city, this one costs money to get into. It was only 200 yen, so not bad at all, but there is fee. Go early in the morning, because the lines were ridiculous to get in.
