Review of my room: “High Floor City View Double Room” for which I stayed 13 nights.
The good:
* Common toiletries provided
* Fresh towels provided daily.
* Bed is fairly comfortable.
* Mini fridge in room
* 2 minute walk to subway station called “Nishi-shinjuku Gochome station”
The bad:
* The area of the hotel sucks. It is very very very quiet. Nothing fun to do in this part of Shinjuku. It has a very corporate feeling. Not at all what I was expecting. Very disappointed in the area. Very boring. And there must be a hospital near by since there were a lot of ambulance sirens throughout the day and night.
* The room is extremely small. Because of its size, it is not functional.
* I would never consider this space accommodating to more than one person total.
* I knew the room was not going to be spacious but I at least expected it to be functional. It is not. The room is very crowded. And because of this, the room seems unwelcoming and unkept since there is literally no space to hide your belongings.
* There is no place to store your clothes. None at all.
* You have to store your luggage under the bed frame and crawl on the floor to access your luggage.
* There is no physical space to open your suitcase.
* There is only 4 feet/1.3 meters between the bed and the desk.
* The bathroom is tiny. I could not spread my arms without touching the opposing wall.
* There is no shelf space to place your toiletry items in the bathroom. So again, the bathroom feels disorganized and chaotic since you’re having to place your toiletries in odd places in the bathroom.
* Pool CANNOT be used if you have tattoos, and if you do want to use the pool, there is an additional cost of around $10-14 USD
* Pool is only open from July to September.
* Washer and dryer available. Cash only. Dryer took 2 hours to dry socks/underwear.
* No microwave in room. Only two public ones for guests uses
* No clothes iron in room. But there is an ironing room located on only 2 floors of the hotel.
* Only one ice machine for entire hotel.
* Housekeeping is only upon request.
* I paid extra for a “high floor.” It wasn’t worth it.
* You CANNOT control the air conditioning since it is only controlled centrally. There were many nights I sweat so much because my room was hot despite having the window opened as much as possible.
* I do not feel the price is paid is justified given the small cramped space
