Packed with tourists but worth a visit. You will have a lot of options to street eat and ingredients to buy on the stalls outside.

There are awesome restaurants inside the Fishmarket. Some of them are a real class. Food in Japan is not only about taste its an Art. as well.

We arrived around 9am and by the time we wandered around the outer market trying all different types of seafood, the main market was finishing up. The visitor centre opens at 10am but I’m pretty sure you can visit the place where all the action happens a bit early. To see the tuna auction you have to be there very early, but we didn’t want to get up for 4am. Next time, I would attempt to see the bigger market before heading to the outer market to try the food. Overall, you can’t help but be impressed by the scale of the market and the range of fish on offer.

The Tsukiji Fish Market was a ton of fun and just a buzz with energy! They say the city's best kitchens are here, and I believe it! We stood in line at Daiwa and the breakfast sushi did not disappoint! After Daiwa, we browsed the outer markets for trinkets and found some very well priced ceramics -- which were worth purchasing even though we had to package them later to take back home. At 10:00 a.m. the fish market auction area opened to the public. It's basically clean up time for the employees, but it's still a treat for visitors interested in seeing all that's left over after the morning's auction. The auction area is a working facility, so be on the lookout for the motorized carts and keep children close by... very close by!

This was basically the highlight of our trip. It was basically the only place we encountered other tourists but I can understand why everyone wants to experience it. Truly incredible to witness. The market will not allow tourists to enter until 10 am (but get there earlier to line up and experience the shops outside of the market) once the vendors are done conducting business. My children were fascinated by everything. The people who work there are friendly but they are working and moving quickly so be alert and agile. They ask repeatedly for no photos or videos inside the market and there were many who completely disregarded this - be respectful and follow the only rule they ask of visitors. The pics you get outside of the market are enough.
