It's cheap! And you get what you pay for... If there was an up side, across the street is a bar for expats and great place to meet colorful characters, the staff is really friendly, but the rooms have no phone, meager bath facilities, old furnishings, bad drapery... I could talk about the plumbing that hangs on the wall, the flaking paint, etc., but go meet the Brits, Americans, Aussies that hang out at Dan's across the road, get drunk, sing karaoke like a fool, pass out and head out the next morning. It's a travelling thing. Enjoy it!

Looking cozy and nice from the outside but not very pleasant from the inside. Stuff is very nice and polite but the quality of the room was one of the worst we have experienced at Philippines.
The bed sheet was dirty we have asked for a new one and evet thought it was washed it wasn’t clean. Beds are wet. Rooms with windows to the road are very noisy. Also you get use to the noise at Philippines but this was too much. We wanted to order transportation to Anda (service offered by hotel) but nobodu could get us a car. You can find much better hotels in Tagbilaran for the same price.

PROS:
-budget hotel
- near Tagbilaran Seaport.
- 5-10 minutes walk to Plaza Marcela (supermarket/department store)
-very close to the entertainment area,Olman's Plaza

CONS:
-no proper handling of checking in their guests
-'twas little scary, dark hotel room.
-the hot/cold shower was not functioning
-just offers breakfast meal only (took us about 30-45 minutes to wait)
-when checking out, there were no checking of the room, receptionist just said "Okay, thank you"
-the airconditioner was really old and dirty
-no TELEPHONE inside the room,(standard twin)
-very old and dirty cabinet

RECOMMENDATIONS:
-IF POSSIBLE they can have a seminar for their FRONT DESK OFFICERS in handling their guests properly
-IF POSSIBLE they can have a 24-hour restaurant or just a snack bar, provided they are also considered as one of the budget hotels in the city
-IF POSSIBLE they can have a WIFI connection accessible in each room, they just have more than 20 rooms and I think it's really possible.
-IF POSSIBLE they can provide all the amenities in the room(e.g telephone to contact the front desk, shampoo,Hot and Cold Shower in function, etc)
-IF POSSIBLE they can change their very old cabinets inside their rooms

Yes, I should have read the reviews and BELIEVED THEM, but I decided to take my chances since the price was right. This hotel is, without a doubt, the worst that I've stayed at while touring the Visayas. I was at first struck by the total lack of maintenance to the building. The lobby hadn't been painted nor cleaned in decades. The room itself was far worse. When I first entered I thought that it must be some kind of joke. There were ants EVERYWHERE and cockroaches on the floor. The room itself stunk of mildew and there were cracks and mildew stains all over the walls. The air conditioning didn't get cold and the water that dribbled out didn't get warm. The bedding was so filthy that I layed clothing on the bed to shield me from whatever lived in the mattress.

Room Tip: Stay elsewhere or sleep in the street

My friends and I visited Bohol for four days and chose La Roca because of the low cost.

While we have seen gross and unhealthy boarding house rooms in Manila, Hotel La Roca makes them seem like the Shangrila in comparison. This place is the dirtiest, most dysfunctional hotel I've ever stayed. The room had bugs, no water, no working air con, and bedding and sheets that looked like they had been changed a month earlier. We checked out after the first night and ran away as if it was a haunted house.

It's obvious that the hotel was nice thirty or forty years ago but the management has since then destroyed the place. It should be bulldozed and an exorcism conducted...
