This was the absolute highlight of our South Africa trip and quite possibly our best holiday experience ever. We were first time Safari goers and we loved every second. We were made to feel very special. It was truly an indigenous, authentic, luxurious experience. It was a joy to learn about nature, the area and the animals. The food from breakfast, lunch, high tea, sunset aperitifs in the bush to candlelight dinners were done with great aplomb. The atmosphere was friendly, informal and relaxing. I recommend the spa treatments with massages on the terrace of your tent suite. Lock your tent suite when you go out, otherwise the monkeys will break in and hit your fully stocked mini bar! Of special note was the knowledge and care of our guide ranger, Hein who clearly loves his job, My husband and I definitely want to go on more safaris. Given a chance we would also return to Marataba. We are missing it already!

Very nice Safari lodge. Staff did everything to let us feel comfortable. Food was dissapointing. Set-up not! Change the chef ;-) All in all we really enjoyed our stay! The views and staff and tents are amazing

Room Tip: Very good. Only the food was dissapointing for the price level.

My husband and I just returned from our honeymoon in South Africa. We ended the honeymoon at Marataba Safari Lodge and it was the highlight of the entire trip. Everyone at Marataba was professional and friendly but I'd have to give my praises to our butler Jennifer, who was so accommodating and remembered all of our preferences; Matt, our knowledgeable and personable guide who made sure we were safe/had a good time on our game drives; and the night porter, who always had the best attitude. Thank you for an unforgettable experience!!

The landscape is one of the top 5 on my personal list. The energy you can feel in there is unique. Full of elephants, incredible leopards, etc. Perfect for photography. The tents are amazing, luxury with the perfect African style, very natural and eco-friendly. The accommodation on the Trails are breathtaking.

Room Tip: Luxury Tent Camp

We are a family of four (two teens, two adults)
We spent three nights in Marataba
What a scenic and gorgeous location !
Very comfortabe tent
Very nice staff (speciallythe waiters)
In term of animals have in mind because of the bush it is much more difficult to see them
Among the Big 5 we saw « only » Rhino and Elephant
There are much less lodges than in other reserve so more difficult for the guides to know through radio from others where spectacular animals are
However it gives more the impression of wildness than in Madikwe
So If you have to choose only one reserve, go in another one to be sure to get the big 5
If you are doing like us two, Marataba is great for its landscape and quietness
