A small museum dedicated to ocean racing. Probably geared more to school visits and adults with an interest in the racers.
Nice bar with reasonably priced drinks and a nice view.
It is near to the centre of the town on the seafront so easy to get to.

Thank Steve K

I really enjoyed my visit to the museum... and its free to get in... check on the opening times on the internet before arriving as the museum is not open all the time.

I spent a good couple hours here, mind you I do enjoy sailing, and have so much respect for the people that compete in and have and have competed in the Round the world races.

All the displays were in Spanish and English which made sure I didn't miss a thing.

Its well worth a visit.

Although my wife & I are not sailors, it was difficult not to find the whole exhibition with the interactive displays quite absorbing. The video presentation with the experiences of many of the sailors who had participated in the races was fascinating & quite moving. The simulator is a must - you really feel you are "on the high seas" & riding the ship. There is also an opportunity to get a giuded tour of one of the actual ships but as time was pressing, we had to miss this.

Very interesting and well worth a visit if you are in Alicante, particularly as it is free. Unfortunately, like most such attractions, the merchandise in its shop is horrifically expensive!

Museum is located along the road towards cruise terminal and only a short walk from esplanade area - It celebrates the ocean going yacht races which Volvo took over sponsorship from Whitbread a while back and Alcante is the start point for races (hence why the museum is based here). The entrance looks uninviting but reception staff are friendly and there’s a fantastic Lego model of one the yachts on display. Back in the day I was a keen sailor so understood a lot about the various exhibits. However, nothing can prepare you when watching the video presentations (English with Spanish subtitles) about life on board and especially the part about losing a member of crew overboard. Children and adults alike will appreciate the interactive displays and simulator (not working when I visited). On exit you walk through the shop which sells good quality merchandised items. The museum is starting to show its age but it’s still worth an hour or so of your time. Upstairs and accessed from outside via steps to left of entrance is a restaurant overlooking the harbour.
