Our 9th visit so the Abama is doing something right.
Glorious setting and tranquil.
We always stay in the adult only Tagor Villas with concierge service and golf buggy. Fantastic staff throughout the hotel where nothing is too much trouble.
In a nutshell we love the place and will return.
HOWEVER....
El Mirador for breakfast, although improving, is still disorganised with too many waiters serving a table resulting in confusion and order mistakes.
The Sports Bar is expensive with lukewarm food diffidently served. €24 for a burger with cold chips is a disgrace.(Bill scrapped-Thank you)
Over our visits the in-house restaurants have provided some excellent meals but also some terrible ones. I strongly recommend the short taxi ride to Playa San Juan or Alcala to taste some alternative excellent good value restaurants.

Dear Peter C,

I am so much delighted to hear that this is the 9th time you have stayed with us, and think about coming back for a 10th time, or more!

I believe we take great advantage of our secluded location and our exclusive Tagor' Villas, without a doubt, the best option to relax, with the best views to our gardens and the Atlantic Ocean.

Even though we offer our guests a destination within a destination, I am pleased to know you have done a little sightseeing and explored the different flavors our island has to offer.

Our Ladies & Gentlemen look forward to hosting you again in the near future and keep adding Ritz-Carlton Memories to every stay.

Sincerely,
Arianna Calcaterra

Incredible stay at the Hotel Ritz Carlton Abama!
The service was amazing, we have been staying at the Villas Tagor. We have been in the Hotel many times and in this particular stay, we have been incredibly amazed by the personalized service of Cristian, Raul and Solanje (in Tagor Villas) and Alejandro (in Room Service). We really appreciate the high service of hospitality we have received.

Not first time here, but this time the room (villa, not cheapest one) was not really the top... bathroom was not as it is should be in 5 star hotel, the towel was dirty (we have not use it). See pics below. Honestly I love this hotel, but small details making me sad, especially for the money they charge

We booked this hotel for a week of luxury and relaxation and to celebrate my 'big' birthday and I'm very sad to say how disappointed we were with our experience at the Abama. Our first impression at check-in was frosty and functional. We were offered a glass of champagne, however were left standing at the desk for ages - other 5* hotels would always offer you a seat while they sorted out details. We were informed that the hotel's main gym was being refurbished, which was a great shame as we usually use the gym most days on holiday. We were offered an alternative gym at their golf club, which was a few minutes away by car and very poorly equipped. Also, once the conference people arrived, you had to queue for a machine as it was so busy. I have to say the hotel for the first couple of days was pleasant and peaceful. Our room was very nice and the adult pool area was beautiful, with very attentive staff. However, once the hotel filled up with the conference, peace was broken. The breakfast restaurant turned into a school canteen, very noisy with queues for tables, and the poor staff were chasing around trying to cope and apologising for the chaos. Also the adult pool area turned into a holiday camp atmosphere whenever the conference was on 'free time'. We were even moved off our sunbeds at the end of the second afternoon so they could move furniture to set up for a conference event that evening around the pool. The restaurants were adequate, with MB probably being our least favourite. We were also not informed when booking or even at check-in that there was a price limit on our half board allowance - be aware that this is unlikely to cover 3 courses at any of the restaurants without going above your allowance, and only 1 course at MB. It was only when we thought we should double check at reception were we informed of this half board limit, and was told to read their 'terms and conditions' Not something I would normally wish to do on my annual holiday ...... We spoke to reception twice about the inconvenience of the conference, once during our stay and once at check out. I asked both times for our grievances to be brought to the managers attention, however we've had no feedback from the hotel whatsoever. My advice to you is check that there is no conference on during your stay, otherwise you are made to feel like an insignificant guest. This is an extremely expensive hotel that doesn't justify the cost and we will not be returning.

Allow me to start off by thanking you for the time taken to share your experience with us, we truly appreciate the feedback as this is the only way of knowing what we need to either, continue doing or correct in order to keep travelers visiting us.

After reading your review I realize that we fell short on your expectations and offer no excuses but my sincerest apologies for not having provided you with the relaxation your where in search of during your annual holiday. We do try our best to offer all types of travelers the best possible experience but realize that at times this is a challenge and what is beneficial for some will affect others, the resolution lies with us and I together with our executive team will be analyzing your comments and thus try to minimize discomfort and inconveniences similar to the ones that you experienced.
