I am not a vegetarian and we went because a visitor from the uk is a vegetarian. As a non vegetarian I have got to say that the food here was fantastic. There was a fixed menu which I really enjoyed, just trust the restaurant, they know what they are doing. Thank you to Andrea and his wife who are passionate about the food and where it comes from. The tastes were amazing. I will be going back.

This was an excellent recommendation from TA, which we would otherwise not have come across as it is very small and tucked away at the bottom of the little town.
During the day it is a tea room with an extensive menu of infusions and then in the evening it serves what the owner, Barbara, calls an alternative menu. Booking is essential in the season (Santo Stefano is quite a tourist attraction in spite of the extensive earthquake damage) as it can seat a maximum of 14 in the single cosy and attractive room.
There is a fixed menu, but nothing written down and the dishes just keep coming. These are generally vegetarian, but did include some very nice prosciutto. Everything is nicely presented and each dish was carefully explained by Barbara or the young waiter.
We had bruschette with tomato and herbs, shredded courgette and poppy seeds and best of all grilled aubergine slices with balsamic vinegar and slices of orange. This was followed by the prosciutto.A very tasty lentil and orzo soup preceded white polenta with mushroom sauce. Slices of cheese fried with a honey coating led on to a plate of biscuits and cake to go with the coffee.
All the ingredients are locally sourced to produce this really unusual and exceptionally good meal. Barbara is clearly very proud of her cooking and came over several times to check that we were enjoying our food.
The meal including house wine, water and coffee was €20 each and well worth it.
Complimenti Barbara!

What a wonderful ending to a great day in the mountains. This place is so small but so homie feeling. Their is no menu they create the dishes for you and the menu changes all the time. Every single thing we are was amazing. Grilled vegetables, grilled cheese with honey, bread with prosciutto, polenta with a rich mushroom sauce, lovely tea with desserts etc. The owners are so kind and the chef came out to welcome us and make sure we were enjoying ourselves. Very small place with 4 tables. If you plan on visiting which I highly suggest make a reservation ahead of time.
