“Amazing for the price”

Inokashira Park Zoo
Ranked #3 of 73 things to do in Musashino
Certificate of Excellence
Reviewed 9 April 2018

I really enjoyed my visit to Inokashira park zoo for a bunch of reasons.

I had no idea it was technically 2 parks (the marine park is further into the actual park and definitely worth a visit as it's included in the original ticket price), I saw loads of indigenous Japanese animals (like Tanuki and Kitsune), and was a lot larger than I expected.

The only thing that confused us (and probably wouldn't have if we understood Japanese better) was the asian Elephant. We went into the indoor viewing area/enclosure and there were just written displays. We then saw someone playing violin through a door way and wondered if it was just having a chill out period in a more private area.

Then we went around to the main outdoor enclosure which had loads of people standing around in it, and then the violinist appeared. She stood quite far back so we both kind of assumed they were bringing the elephant out for a meet and greet or something, but no elephant appeared. We then realised that it must have died.

Other than that though, the park was fantastic. So many families enjoying the sunshine and the small fair ground.

10minutes walk from Kichijoji sta. Very wide park. There is a lake then yiu can enjoy boating. There is a small zoi, too. Actually this is good datinf place but there is a rumar that couples who did boating together will never fail to be separated.
There is a small shrine where female god stays. They say the god ks jealous.

Entry to the zoo is very cheap and you get a discount if you show your passport. Good for young families to occupy their children. It’s a small park. Personally I feel the enclosures are too small for the animals and are dirty. I was concerned for the state of the animals. It’s true that visitors can get up close to the animals but I feel like the animals are in such small enclosures they would be very overwhelmed. There is a small petting area for children to pet guinea pigs. There are also a few rides towards the back of the park that children can play on.

2017/07/22 Tina在動物園手抱著天竺鼠,做親密接觸;接著去生物廣場探訪許多野生動物,十分有趣。At the Inokashira Park Zoo, the Guinea Pig Petting Zoo and the Squirrel Trail attracted a lot of visitors to see the lovely animals.
