“Small but cheap”

Inokashira Park Zoo

Entry to the zoo is very cheap and you get a discount if you show your passport. Good for young families to occupy their children. It’s a small park. Personally I feel the enclosures are too small for the animals and are dirty. I was concerned for the state of the animals. It’s true that visitors can get up close to the animals but I feel like the animals are in such small enclosures they would be very overwhelmed. There is a small petting area for children to pet guinea pigs. There are also a few rides towards the back of the park that children can play on.

2017/07/22 Tina在動物園手抱著天竺鼠,做親密接觸;接著去生物廣場探訪許多野生動物,十分有趣。At the Inokashira Park Zoo, the Guinea Pig Petting Zoo and the Squirrel Trail attracted a lot of visitors to see the lovely animals.

There are two distinct areas included in the admission. The southern one contains a lot of birds and an aquarium. The northern one is across the road and contains mostly mammals, and a large amount of different attractions. These include a guinea pig petting area (open at various times), a squirrel enclosure (you go inside), a sculpture museum, an outdoor cafe, a small theme park, a small tea house (no tea being served if I recall). We came to see some Japanese wildlife and were not disappointed. Do note that other animals were present. Some highlights were the Japanese crane, squirrel trail and giant salamander. This park seems to cater well to families as we saw a lot of children. You can take the train here from Shinjuku.
