Our experience was a very mixed bag. We started with the Lavakeller, which seemed to be a nice trip underground. However, the tour was only in German, and although I speak some German (and my native language Dutch is pretty close to German) the tourguide was impossible to understand. He was just mumbling in a very fast and monotonous way and had the presentation skills of a naked mole-rat. The result was a very boring tour that seemed to drag on forever (and the kids got really really bored and annoyed altough they like caves in general). The formations of basalt blocks on the ceiling looked nice though.
The museum was pretty nice though, and also the kids really liked it. Museum is more geared towards children then towards adults, and the information on display may be a bit basic for people with an interest and some prior knowledge of geology/vulcanism.
Price of tickets were a bit on the high side.
