Wonderful weekend away! Food was amazing! Both dinner and breakfast Service was great . Abundance of bird life! We stayed in the French Cottage, beautifully appointed and superb outlook. Can't wait to get back there for another relaxing weekend!

We heard that the hotel had won best service 2018, so we were really excited about meeting the team. The reception is not well signposted, so we wandered around on arrival. Check-in wasn’t particularly friendly and the property is very small compared with others we have stayed in. The room was nice - not as luxurious as we would have expected given the price point. The first thing we were aware of is the television from the room next door - the walls are not sound proofed! We went exploring in Montville and then back to their sofa area and drinks before dinner. We had a good night together and the service in the restaurant and the food was great. Wine expensive, but some good choices. Overall the luxury of the hotel did not meet the price - we have experienced a lot more intimacy and luxury for less. We did have a good night because we focused on each other, rather than focusing on “what we were not getting” and they did provide a nice chocolate treat for my special occasion. They asked us before our arrival if we had special requests and then they didn’t follow through, so we had to ask for it to be brought to the room. The breakfast was really yummy and generous. So a nice stay, but overall with a spend at the hotel of $1000 including dinner, bed and breakfast and wine - there is better value for money elsewhere.

Ionise,
Thank you for your review. I really appreciate you taking the time to provide us with valuable feedback in regards to your recent experience here at Spicers Clovelly Estate.
I couldn't agree more with you in that reception can be tricky to find. They do say, some of the best things are hard to find, but I prefer guests knowing they are getting where they need to be. Because of this, I have additional signs on order presently and I appreciate you confirming my thoughts and purchase.
I am delighted to hear that you enjoyed the delicious creations of our talented team of chefs. Our team are very passionate and I am pleased that you also enjoyed the high standard of service that we aim to deliver here, thus being awarded Gourmet Traveller Best Service 2018, which we are incredibly humbled by.
I certainly appreciate all of your feedback and comments and will discuss with my team in the hope of welcoming you back and delivering that 'well above average' stay that you came here expecting.
Thank you again for your time and valuable review.
Regards,
Bobbie

Lovely property, beautiful grounds with established gardens and deciduous trees that offer changing colours depending on the season. Staff very welcoming, friendly and helpful. Enjoyed the log fire and cocktails at the bar. Best Cosmopolitan cocktail I’ve ever had! Decor is French country, rooms are spacious and elegant. We dined at the fabulous Tamarind restaurant and had arranged transport.
We will go again to see the Jacarandas in bloom in October and try their Long Apron restaurant which offers a 3 or 5 course ALa Carte menu. Breakfast was generous and very pleasant on the patio. Coffee was great, always a plus!

We loved this place, it was very intimate and luxurious and so much better than large hotels but also much better than a bed and breakfast with plenty of privacy. We stayed in a spa suite. The bedroom was very nice, the furnishings were nice, the seating at the windows were nice, the bed was very comfortable, the room was very sunny. We went in winter and the heating was great. The under floor heating in the bathroom was also nice. The bath was luxurious and the bathroom was large. There are lots of magazines to read and the house setting and gardens are nice. We loved the breakfast on the sunny patio and the fresh fruits and yoghurt and then selection of freshly cooked meal to order which is so much better than a buffet. The location is good, near shops and sites. We would definitely stay again. We went to the restaurant Long Apron for three course dinner, it was OK but in our opinion overrated with fancy combinations that aren’t memorable, the desserts were not pleasant at all but this is not a review of their restaurant. The setting of the restaurant and the service were great. The food at the restaurant that was not part of the three course dishes were very good. The bar by fireplace is also nice.

Thank you lifeisbeaut for taking the time to provide us with such lovely feedback.
I am so pleased to hear that you enjoyed so many elements to your stay, including that amazing heating in the bathroom floor!!
Winter is always such a lovely time in the hinterland and it is great that you could find the time to come and experience it here.
I appreciate your feedback on the menu. Our recent Winter menu has been well received with the smoked hay ice cream being quiet a talking point amongst our guests.
We really do appreciate your feedback and look forward to welcoming you back to the property in the future.
Regards,
Bobbie
