We had previously avoided Capolinea Cafè because its ideal location at the west end of Piazza Popolo suggested it would be touristy and expensive. Wrong on both counts. We stopped by early (7:15) to leave plenty of time for a performance of La Bohème at Teatro L'Aqiila (wonderful theater), and the dinning room was already filling with orchestra members and theater goers. However, the service was excellent and we had two delicious pasta dishes and shared a secondo. We ended our meal with a very good desert and caffè. All this and water and house wine for 42 euro. We will return.

The place is little but warm and informal. It is inside the main medieval walls near the door of the ancient city.
The chef was a woman who loves cooking paying attention to the tradition of the country. I have eaten pasta with eggs "maccheroncini di Campofilone" with a sauce made of tomatoes and meat of beef and chicken. The taste was excellent. Then I ate roasted pork slices with a wonderful delicious taste of veal.
The price was lower of the quality of the meal.

For all the beauty of Fermo’s main piazza (and it is very beautiful indeed), the bars lining its perimeter offer little beyond very good pizza. Pasta dishes appear on the menus but, beware, the sauces are often bought in and not freshly made. Yuk!

Slightly hidden from view is this bar/ristorante which offers a step change in quality from everywhere else on the piazza. Great for coffee and pastries, as well as pasta and main courses. Sit cozily inside in the winter or in a pleasant outdoor area in Summer. The staff are also very friendly.

It’s my ‘go to’ place whenever I’m in town.

We had dinner with our two young daughters. Immediately the staff gave them two boxes with toys to keep them entertained. Nicely prepared food with some interesting local wines to choose from.
