Located right on the main shopping street close to the train station this hotel gives you the feeling of staying in a traditional ryokan and yet it is a modern structure which means that the rooms are fairly large and soundproof. We were on the 1st floor in the annex which had a nice view over a small garden.
Staff was very friendly and helpful but, in typical Japanese fashion, inflexible. We got to the hotel early morning and whilst I understand that check in is from 2pm I would have thought that we could have been given a large towel to enjoy the onsen (Hot Springs) whilst waiting (the tiny one we were offered does not really dry you).
We ordered the dinner set menu which is served in your room. It was not bad, but nothing special. I enjoyed the food over the fishmonger across the road much more.
Our room had a toilet and sink but no bathroom - all guest have to shower in one of the two little spa rooms, hoping that they are free. The bed mats very comfortable.
We choose to go to one of the onsens in the morning to shower and enjoy the Hot Springs as the open at 7am.More
