Reviewed 30 December 2011

We booked a deluxe room at the Junyuan and we were allocated a room on the 21st floor, it was terrible. I don't know if they are in the process of refurbishing the hotel but our room was damp and mouldy. As my husband was unwell and suffering from breathing problems I went to the front desk and with the help of an amazing doorman managed to get us changed to a room on floor 10 - what a difference it was like moving from a motel to a five star hotel and the difference 200 yuan per night.

Unfortunately during our stay the heating and water broke down and they couldn't tell when it was going to be repaired but they didn't tell us and as only one or two members of staff speak English we were left unaware until a friend contacted the hotel. We were sad to leave the hotel because our room on floor 10 was lovely.

Very few members of staff speak English and I am embarrassed to say that I don't speak Chinese - we travelled to visit our daughter who is working in Huaihua.

I would recommend this hotel BUT only if you are allocated the right room.

Room Tip: Ensure that you get the right room.

The hotel is located10 minutes by foot from the railway station. The service is great, the staff speaks good English. The rooms are good equiped with soft beds. Also the bathroom (shower) was clean and nice. The restaurant serves good food as well.
We had to check out at 5.30am for our train to Guilin. The reception was occupied 24hrs.
Huaihua itself is not really a nice city. The hotel is near a mall with a big supermarket.
