I stayed at the Anantara with my husband for four nights and had a fantastic time. The hotel setting is absolutely incredible, with unforgettable views over the mountains and an infinity pool and two hot tubs looking over the vista. Room: Firstly, in respect of the room, it is definitely worth requesting and paying extra for a canyon view room. We stayed in room 249 and were blown away by the panoramic views of the mountains from our balcony. The balcony was also a decent size with a table and two comfortable chairs, and a large sofa (all of which were very clean). We sat in that room watching the sunset on a few nights and it was just amazing. The room itself was also very spacious, with a separate closet and a large bathroom with two sinks and a bath tub. The room decor also had a luxury lodge/ cosy feel and it was always so lovely to relax in there - the room temperature was always perfect too. The room would always be immaculately cleaned each day and at turn down they kindly put flower petals on our bed and made animals from the towels. They really went to a lot of effort (see my photos attached in this review). Food:
We were on a half board package which I highly recommend. Breakfast was plentiful with lots of options from hot food to beautiful pastries, freshly made waffles and pancakes. They also make rose water jam fresh on the premises which I had daily. On two of the days that we stayed they also had a noodle section where you could order pho noddles in chicken or vegetable broth.

We ate in all of the restaurants. The Italian was lovely - particularly the pizza. They also specifically made us a pasta dish that we requested one day which was delicious. Special shout out to Sumanta who was our waiter on both these occasions and provided a great service.

We had a meal in Al Qualaa - I ordered the baby chicken which was very nice and my husband ordered the mixed grill. Usama was the waiter that took care of us and his service was excellent. We mentioned we wanted a bit more spice to the kebabs and the chef actually made us more kebabs the next day to our liking - Usama had arranged this and even the chef (Ussama) then came out to see us when delivering the kebabs to make sure we liked them (despite being particularly busy that evening with a group booking of the owners of the hotel!). They went over and beyond.

If you eat at Al Qualaa make sure you order the Um Ali. We liked it so much the previous night that Usama arranged for it to be made again for us and brought it from the restaurant to the buffet restaurant where we were eating.

Finally, the buffet restaurant. The quality of the food was great but what was even more special was Tanveer and his team (including the lovely Karen). He asked us if there was anything special we wanted to eat and we requested tarka dhaal with paratha (which was absolutely delicious) and fish curry (also very nice). He accommodated any special requests that we made and on all occasions delivered. On our last day at breakfast he also gave us special karat tea (better than what we had been ordered previously) and that was just absolutely delicious. He was very friendly and we thank him and all of the team at the buffet restaurant for their hospitality, amazing service and food.

Spa:
We both had massages at the spa which is in itself a beautiful place to relax. My massage was fantastic. My husband had two - (shout out to Ronda who was his masseuse for one of them and do request her!). Thank you Soni - the manager at the spa, for your service when booking the treatments.

The only comment I would make is that the prices at the spa are very expensive although when we booked with our travel agent we were given a discount voucher.

I did a yoga class with Ronda one morning at Diana’s Point which was fantastic. It was just me and her as no one else signed up for that day and I highly recommend it. This was my first yoga class and we therefore did a beginners class.

Activities:
You will see from the hotels website that it does offer lots of different activities. As mentioned above I took part in the yoga class but they also offer lots of guided walks and hikes.

There is a three village walk which you can do on your own and which is clearly signposted. I highly recommend doing this as the views are incredible and it is not strenuous.

Overall, this is an absolutely beautiful property with brilliant service. We have stayed in lots of 5 star resorts around the world but this has to be one of the top hotels we have ever stayed in. This was even the case even with no music or entertainment in the evenings (due to the passing of the Sultan). Do not hesitate and book! You will not be disappointed.
