Cannot fault the level of service ,fast check in ,seating ok ,friendly staff.Plenty of leg room, refreshments ok on the plane

A smooth and well run operation. However, the processing of bag drop was a bit slow. Aeroplane was a well appointed Airbus A319. Boarding was expedited and cabin crew were friendly and welcoming. Food appeared to be fair.y standard airline fare, and alcohol is served on board. The flight to Singapore was two hours, and the flight deck kept. Passengers fully aware of ETAs and so on. Cabin was clean, tidy and well maintained. Would recommend.

On the way from Singapore to Maldives we flew regular Singapore Airline (SQ) but on the way back we were taken by SQ's budget version SilkAir even though we paid the full fare. It felt like we literally purchased a lemon that left a bitter and sour taste in our mouth.

1. For an almost 5 hour flight, there is no entertainment system at all on the flight, unless you download a SilkAir studio app beforehand but the airline does not bother to inform the passengers at check-in

2. The overhead displays in the cabin only streams visual only videos as the seats are not equipped with earphone jacks.

3. They only serve you beer in a small cup without leaving the whole can with you. Do they want to save the rest for other passengers or maybe themselves?

4. They serve you small bags of mixed nuts at the end of the meal rather than before the deal as o'dourves. Is it considered an alternative to desert?

5. The service from the flight attendants are not as good as the regular SQ ones. They deflect complaints by encouraging passengers go straight to management.

So in short, SilkAir is stingy on service and equipment but still expensive on airfare. Avoid as much as u can.

I guess being part of the Singapore Airlines group already set the expectations for Silkair. I tried SilkAir awhile back for a different trip. Both experience are good. However, for this recent trip (Singapore to Vientiane), they ran out of food choices so I was served with food that I would not have ordered, the choices were either fish or chicken dish but when the food trolley service came to our seats, the staff informed us, only chicken dish option was available. Although not a big deal, maybe something that could be improved next time

This is the first time that I have used Silkair and I will definitely use them again. Everything from the comfy seats to the very helpful staff make the difference. The entertainment system is similar to others but they also shown a movie on the drop down screens for people that did not have the app.
