“Why are some so critical of this Arline?”
Review of Jetstar Airways - Australia & New Zealand

Reviewed 2 weeks ago

Flew Jetstar Brisbane to Hobart on the Thursday before the Easter weekend. Initial on line booking very simple. Check in at the airport was straight forward assisted by friendly staff. Boarding was on time and well organised. Seats were typically cattle class but you know what you're getting if flying cattle. Cabin crew on this flight were cheerful, well presented, friendly and efficient. Service was excellent. Smooth morning flight arriving on time. Collected bags in a timely manner. What more can one say. You want to get from A to B safely, efficiently and at a reasonable cost. I did this with Jetstar on this trip. A very good experience.

Pros, Great aircraft with good amenities, good head room through out (1 toilet for 21 passage's and crew)
Food was about the same or slightly above it's other airline, (bit more work needed for breakfast)
Service was good to and back from Bangkok
easy and friendly check in at Bangkok

Negs, took a great aircraft then fit it out as a 737 from 20+ yrs ago and lost a lot of credibility, even as a cut price airline that cut it to much
Comfort pack different type going and returning

    • Seat comfort
    • Customer service (e.g. attitude, care, helpfulness)
    • Cleanliness
    • Food and Beverage
    • Legroom
    • In-flight entertainment (WiFi, TV, movies)
    • Value for money
    • Check-in and Boarding (e.g. efficiency, service at gate)

Jetstar, you need to straight up and honest with customers. TELL THEM that you wont fly a plane that isn't full and that there is a good chance you will be delayed for some time until you have enough passengers to make the trip worth your while. I would suggest a name change to "Standby Airlines", and make your slogan "You'll be inconvenienced time wise, but better off financially"

Simple return flight, Melbourne to Bribane over Easter. Booked, paid, checked in and optioned up online. Arrive 90 minutes prior to be told Flight delayed due to "Technical Difficulties". 90 minutes later put onto a different flight.

The return flight, again arrived 90 minutes early and you guessed it Flight Cancelled due to "Technical Difficulties" this time 2 hours delay, but, moved to Qantas. Check in staff able to able maintain deadpan expression due to the multple daily delays they are left to deal with. Also everything you carry on is weighed and measured, strictly 7kg all up. 200 grams over and its $70 to stow it.

This was my 3rd time with Jetstop and my 3rd delay. So that seals it for me. No more. I would rather pay $20 more with another airline and actually get there at the scheduled time.

Despise this airline, however, when only one available and you have to be somewhere, then you need to use. Having said 'despise', this flight was a little better than expected, primarily because we were in row one and had some leg room. Those behind - well just say they were pretty close to our seat. USE ONLY WHEN NOTHING ELSE AVAILABLE

What can you really say about Jetstar?? It is a budget airline. You pay for what you get. Its cheap. I thought $450 return is ok......BUT........Then you have to add, seat selection, food, entertainment and checked baggage. When initially paying for checked baggage, i realised I didn't allow myself extra kilos for the return trip. Well, you can't pay the difference between what you have already paid for and what you want to pay for. You pay again. This is how they cheat you. I rang the company to see if I could pay the difference but no, that's how they run. Ching! Ching!! The food is average. The kids ate plane food. The wife and I bought sandwiches. I reckon our food tasted better. There is a bit of variety in movies to watch but 3 weeks later on return.........same selections. Boring!!!!! And no WiFi either.
Would I recommend Jetstar to Hawaii?? Yes. The seats are comfortable enough. No there is not enough leg room unless you pay for a seat with more leg room which is about $59 per person each way. Hint: Book an aisle seat. that way you can get out of the seat to stretch more often. You are really not missing out on much with an aisle seat. Do you really need a window seat?? There's really not that much to see and you have to clamber over people to get out. If you have 3 or more people travelling, book the centre seats and any aisle seats next to them. Believe me its a lot more comfortable!!
