I dont usually write airline reviews BUT - having recently flown Malaysia Airlines business class from LHR to KUL - I just wanted to share the experience - and d justuice to the great cabin service and machines that the airline uses. It truly was exceptional.
I had high hopes for the Malaysia Airlines business class A330 cabin, especially since I had booked a so-called “throne” seat on each of my flight—1K on the outbound and 1K coming back. This seat was indeed private and spacious, the cabin felt generally spacious comfy and really really peaceful which is what I like.
But before we get into the air: On the plus side, I’ve always found the international Malaysia Airlines business class lounge to be wonderful, with a decent selection of wine and spirits, delicious Malaysian and other regional food, clean and plentiful shower space and an airy, open design.it's also possible to use the great Qatar Airways lounge at Heathrow which is also a bonus!!!!
I enjoyed the service so much that I decided to choose it for an upcoming Australian trip in November - Malaysia Airlines business class is a solid product for Australians on the lookout for a comfortable way to travel to Asia and beyond. The Malaysia Airlines A330 offers a flat-bed and a pleasant variety of Asian cuisines and warm hospitality. It’s also very convenient – the Australian mainland capital cities of Perth, Adelaide, Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne are all served.
Brisbane here I come.
In KL Malaysia Airlines business class passengers have access to the recently renovated Golden Lounge in the satellite terminal at Kuala Lumpur Airport. This is a high-quality lounge, and it offers a range of a la carte dining options. Amazing Laksa and excellent champagne :)
The cabin I flew from London was great - after a warm welcome I saw that verything is very clean and fresh looking as I arrive at my seat,1K The spaciousness of the cabin (being a wide-body jet) was noticeable. The colours were subtle and refreshing without being overdone.
The flight started with another glass of champagne: Malaysia Airlines business class passengers get access to two champagnes by Bruno Paillard. This includes an exceptional champagne rose.
The rest, as they say, is the stuff of history. Amazing Satay, a great and comfortable flat bed experience. and a wonderful entertainment centre. great movies (I work in the film business...)
What you have is a really personal experience - and one which is one of the better along with Qatar in the One World System. When meal orders were taken the flight attendant specifically came to our row first and addressed us by name, as did every flight attendant throughout the entire flight. Malaysia does a phenomenal job taking care of OneWorld Emerald members, better than just about any other airline I’ve flown.
It is all really about service in the end and this is what Malaysia does so well.
The crew was just really, really spectacular. I tend to think it’s tough to provide great service in a large cabin, but they were constantly smiling, incredibly attentive, and literally addressed us by name at every single interaction.
