We got to MCI and within 10 min of checking in the car at the long term parking, we got notice our flight was delayed.
I called AA at 2 am and before the call ended I asked why the flight was delayed. I was advised "over extended staff" they needed by law to take a break or have another team come in. Everyone is effected by employee shortages.
When AA check in desk opened and they were rebooting passengers, I over heard one agent tell a passenger that AA was not giving vouchers for meals and or hotel.
I quickly mentioned to the agent/manager (her last name was McCoy) that was helping us that I called AA in middle of the night and wha5 I was told. She said that was correct. So we got meal voucher for KC and Miami (our layover airport).
She did great finding us a flight and was just a pleasure to work with!!
Flights were great, no turbulence even with the 2 most recent hurricanes.

My first time flying for a long time with American airlines and it was a really great experience. Professional friendly staff without being over bearing, informative and always help at hand. The airline app works amazingly well so online check in easy and updates on your flights prompt. On inward bound flight we were held up on the tarmac whilst awaiting a gate entry so many of us missed our connecting flights. Whilst still on-board, the airline had set up a table with already rearranged flights for those passengers affected rather than us having to go into the airport, go to help desk, go through a rebooking process etc.....this was impressive. Would definitely use AA again, thank you so much

OK I am going to lay out a scenario that occurred today. A woman was boarding a flight in JAX and was heading to LAS via DFW had a carry on and a pet in a carrier. She was stopped in JAX at the gate and asked to pay $150.00 for the pet (if this isnt enough to be upset). She arrives in DFW and is at the gate for the next leg and the ticket agent refused to allow the carry on stating that the pet carrier was the carry on (now this was not an issue in JAX) and no she did not have any other personal item no purse nothing. this is absolutely ridiculous on all accounts I have been flying AA since the mid 80s and am just shy of the million mile club probably would have made it this year but now I am going to find a different airline you are not the only option for flying and if this type of behavior continues probably won't be an option at all.

I had my flight canceled because of hurricane Ian and was told by the service rep that AA would put me and my wife in a hotel because of the cancellation thought that was generous and was told to go to the airport to speak to a counter rep so took a $30 cab ride to airport to be told there would be no hotel and now another $30 cab ride back to San Jose to find a reasonable priced last minute hotel thanks American airlines your great

Tried to book flight on website, but wouldn’t accept Trip Credit for 2 passengers, so had to call instead. First call didn’t work, they unexplainably cancelled my callback; second call disconnected me, said they were too busy, so I had to call back later; and third call resulted in a quote increase of over $500 each - less than 12 hours later (the next morning)! Bottom line: they wanted me to pay almost $1,100 more for the exact same flights due solely to their faulty website and/or poor customer service.
