First time trying Alaska Airlines after five years of intentional avoidance. I won’t begin to digress on the reasons why I switched to Delta in the first place. My Father and I were running late arrived 15 minutes before our 06:30 flight on our way to a mission trip. When we arrived at the gate, the two women at the desk of Alaska Flight 1258 on 02.14.25 told us we were too late and the gate was closed. We explained the circumstances and purpose of our flight but were met with contempt and no desire to serve the client. After helplessly begging for them to make an exception and allow us to board, we were denied. The attendant had the audacity to say to her coworker “should I go close the gates now?” after this interaction ensued. Not to mention there was no notification in the Alaska app of the gates being closed prior to the standard time. Given the attendants at the gate were utterly useless and seemed ready to end their overnight shift, we were directed to the guest services desk in the C section of Sea-Tac Airport. Chris was the only light in the darkness of this situation and graciously assisted us with a standby reservation for the 09:30 flight. Disappointed and despondent are the best words to describe our experience with Alaska Airlines. Given this was the first visit in half a decade, despite our class of seats, Alaska Airlines will never garner my consideration again when planning a trip regardless of the price. We won’t even discuss Boeing’s lack of discipline when it comes to building airplanes.
