The Alaska app is unreliable. Often it crashes or pages don’t render or features are missing from the page. I often have to shut down the app and start again. The mobile website is terrible and missing features. It is also unreliable. This impacts the inflight service because the technical bugs prevent you from doing things like ordering food. Then you get onboard and they have few options (1 today) for first class passengers despite paying 3-4 times the price of an economy ticket.
Absolutely terrible experience traveling with my pet on Alaska Airlines. They pulled me and another woman off the plane after boarding to tell us the weather over Seattle was too extreme to travel with our pets. Which is good, I don't want to be unsafe or put my pet at risk AT ALL.
But then the Boston ticketing manager abused me, lied to me (claimed no other airlines transport pets over 20lbs), and arranged a flight for me 6 days later telling me I would have to arrange my 6-day hotel stay in Boston at my own expense. They did arrange a 1-night hotel stay for me, to be fair.
That night I called the 800 number, and an Alaskan rep recommended I take a specific Amtrak to Newark, where I could fly to LA. When I arrived at the train station, they let me know the train I was recommended doesn't take dogs. As a result, I ended up paying an obscene amount to Uber to NJ, flew to LA, and drove 15 hours to Portland. Ridiculous.
They treated me like something they stepped in, attempted halfheartedly to place me in a homeless shelter (I'm not homeless), which declined to let me stay, and then they left me to freeze, with no luggage, in the Boston cold. I came away thinking, wow it is much easier for a human to freeze to death in Boston than I ever would have imagined.
We had a 4 day trip planned; PDX-SEA-CVG. Alaska cancelled our first flight to SEA saying it was due to inclement weather. They rebooked us for two days later and told us it was our only option even though the CVG flight, earlier flights to SEA from PDX, and later flights to SEA from PDX were not cancelled. This was a school field trip so we could not just reschedule our whole trip for two days later. Needless to say we have some extremely disappointed kids who will not have another opportunity for this trip. They used the weather as an excuse to cancel our flight so they would not have to accommodate us. I guess customer service isn’t important to them unless it is mandated by law.
Don't fly with Alaska. Worst airline ever. They cancel flights and rebook you 2 days later. Their agents are useless and couldn't care less. It is a clown show masquerading as a legitimate company. Seriously who else loses random panels off their airplanes mid flight?
