“Best experience I’ve ever had with an airline! 2 large ESA dogs in first class - long review”
Review of Alaska Airlines

Reviewed February 10, 2020

This was mine and my fiancé’s first flight with Alaska airlines and we are guaranteed returning customers. We planned VERY carefully and months in advance to bring our two large ESA dogs with us. Most airlines have a weight restriction, breed restriction, number of dogs restrictions, or some other rule preventing us from flying frequently. Alaska was extremely accommodating in every aspect.

Starting from check in, the lady was so sweet and didn’t give us a hard time about the dogs. She just verified that we submitted paperwork on time to have them fly with us. It was extremely fast (first class line) and the process was less than 5 minutes to check all FOUR of our large suitcases. Alaska offers two free checked bags to first class passengers. We did purchase the tickets first class instead of requesting an upgrade to fit our dogs. We also checked in about 3 hours early in case we had any issues.

Security was security. As long as your dog is trained you’ll be fine. They wipe your hands to test for some residue but overall it was simple and pretty quick. No issues there either.

Boarding the plane first was nice. The staff was super sweet and made sure we had everything we needed. They had waters and blankets for us in the seats. We had soooo much space, almost too much. Haha. We chose bulkhead seats. The flight boarded and took off right on time.

The flight attendants were absolutely amazing as well for the ENTIRE flight. The food was okay, but we had choices. They gave us a few complimentary mimosas since we had an early flight. And the breakfast/ snacks were good as well. Not restaurant quality but it’s a flight with only a microwave so idk how great you can expect the food to be.

I can’t say enough wonderful things about the flight attendants and even surrounding passengers. They complimented our dogs behavior and eventually made friends with our dogs. They even gave us the little magnet wings for the dogs which was so cute. The other nearby passengers were curious about bringing two big ESA dogs in first class to Hawaii. We were happy to answer questions.

The flight was so smooth and arrived on time. We had to go directly to quarantine for our dogs inspections and left our suitcases for about 45 minutes at baggage claim. They were nice enough to set them to the side for us to get later. No damaged or lost luggage.

Like I said, I have ZERO complaints. This flight was the best one I’ve ever been on and I’ll always recommend Alaska airlines!

Every time I’m about to board a plane in this airline and need to request to be close to my child, the answer is “ you shouldn’t buy this fare if you want to be next to your kid” really? Every other airline at least tries to accommodate. Flight attendants are usually surprised they didn’t help in the counter. I have a child with special needs (that doesn’t show on first sight) and a 11 yes old.
Why would I like to be a frequent flier on an airline that doesn’t care about passenger needs? This is my 9th time I fly Alaska in one year. And countless times before.
Unfortunately sometimes is the only airline option to leave the town where I leave.
If you have a choice look for a different airline to fly with.

We flew from Seattle SeaTac Airport to Victoria International after having flown two long flights on Emirates from South Africa. We waited in the Lounge Area for 3 hours & watched the many commuter flights leaving SeaTac by Alaskan Airlines. They serve Vancouver, Victoria, Fairbanks, Anchorage, and numerous US destinations south & east of Seattle. The service and staff seemed efficient. However, be prepared to walk to the plane & climb stairs. These are mostly small planes.

Alaska Airlines flight 77 from Washington DC Dulles airport to San Francisco. Airbus A320. Good flight, comfortable seat, decent service. We flew from SFO to New York with Jetblue, and then flew back to San Francisco from DC through this Alaska flight. Both were nice and comfortable flights, though I would rate the Jetblue flight higher.

For some reason AKAIR in Houston doesnt know how to handle frozen boxes, they always wouldnt put it through the baggage claim.I always have to wait until the belt stops and it would be lost. First one was found 2 years ago after a week. Coming back from AK a few weeks ago Im on day 12 and still have no news about my box. Their baggage claim service failed to returned any calls regarding about the matter. I had to always initiate any calls or get an update about it. The only update I got was on day 4 and the operator was stupid enough to ask me if I already found my box? Like really now?
