This was a very fine flight with good service. Airline travel has gotten worse over the years. Alaska has free luggage if you book with their credit card. That helps a lot.

My flight was supposed to be a flight from SNA to DTW with a lay-over in SFO, with the first leg of the flight via Alaska airlines and the second one via Delta. When I checked in my 2 heavy luggages with Alaska Airlines, I was told that due to weather and construction, the flight was going to be diverted to Oakland airport but the passengers would be shuttled to SFO and our luggages were going to be directed to SFO. When I arrived at the Oakland airport, there was nobody there to direct connecting passangers on where to go. I finally found out from the information desk in the baggage claim area that there was an office of Alaska airlines in the baggage claim area. I presented my ID and my connecting flight information to the lady at the desk and she then told me that I would be riding an Uber to SFO (it was a good thing I already use Uber) but that I had to claim my 2 luggages from baggage claim and make sure I checked them in again at SFO. My flight arrived in Oakland at around 10:20, my connecting flight from SFO was at 11:59 and I almost missed my connecting flight. All because, as the pilot stated overhead during the Alaska flight "the Alaskan team made the decision to divert this flight to Oakland rather than SFO so that you will arrive on time", Really Alaska? The flight did arrive on time - to Oakland- but not to SFO, and you should have had representatives at the gate to guide the passengers. I was given wrong information about the luggage, otherwise I would have asked for a direct flight to SFO! This trip was a nightmare. I made it to my connecting flight after a very tense/anxious Uber ride; I had to be escorted through security check at SFO just so I could catch my flight, which was already boarding when I got there.
Our flights with connections were on time and layovers not long. I fly with them almost exclusively

Alaska Airlines has the best employees. Their customer service is impeccable. Our flight was full and they very efficiently got everyone loaded in a timely matter. I really appreciated being able to watch movies on the flight.
Flying to Alaska in the early morning hours after Thanksgiving was great. Was able to beat the rush that comes after the holiday.
