Well here goes this was for wifes 50th and our silver wedding.
Firstly had to go and collect our cases from Dock side at jamaica and pay security 20 dollars we booked Central level 3 were given 2nd level rear got very little sleep due to engine noise it also stunk of raw sewage rooms are tiny and very out dated.
Reception staff ok apart from a ignorant swede i think that's his nationality they only want your money and couldn't care less we tried to book for meals on evening all week bear in mind we were one of the first on the ship and fully booked until we returned home absolute joke as for entertainment honestly was like a nursing home on the water.
The drinks package was OK only thing you had to buy coffee and cans of coke but rest was fine food in self service was a bit repentive but enough choices saying that that's only place we could get food the fish and chips were very good.
The captain and his crew were spot on even they new what my issues were about but obviously they work for the company and have to follow what they told the domestic and bar staff work tirelessly they cannot do enough for you these were the highlight of the boat.
We did not do excursions just our own thing in the ports we stopped at fortunately week before coronavirus kicked in.
I would not do this cruise again we going to try med to see if it's tui marella as a company thing or just what happens on discovery 2
I certainly would not say its there flagship it's old dated smelly rip off.
Since returning been in touch with tui customer service is a joke passing the buck cannot say to much but watch this space for updates all i would advise think about parting with your hard earned money as you will not get value for it book a fornight night in a nursing home it will be a lot cheaper

Well we are currently on the Marella explora 2. Booked the sights of Scotland Cruise. We were told by TUI before the cruise the shore excursion were no longer being offered due to Scotish covid restrictions. Were told the ship will still cruise the cost line so we did not cancel. One day into cruise and they have only left the port of Newcastle sailed 30 miles of cost of Northumberland and that is it engines is off and just drifting. With this being it utiill setting back to port. Food is average at best. Our cabin has bathroom issues reported and still on second day unable to shower. Not the way to treat customers TUI .

We had never cruised before (we being 50 year old mum dad and 15 year old daughter) so we decided to do just a week back in 2018 on the discovery 1 or 2 I can’t remember (the’re identical) loved it so much.the first time we were just looking for a holiday and whent into tui where the only person available to talk was the cruise lady she asked if we where interested in a cruise and we hadn’t really thought about one. It ended up being perfect for us and she was such a good sales women and very helpful and knowledgable.so when we wanted to go on another cruise we didn’t hesitate and went straight back to tui. We had another amazing cruise with memories that will last a life time. We are thinking of going with another cruise line next time as the fleet is only small and the itinerary’s would mean revisiting some of the same places.

Initially this was to start as a complaint after getting the worst cabin we have had in 5 Tui cruises, however we were moved on the 2nd week and then caught up in the Corona virus "Lockdown". although we do quite often arrange our own travel, we have been on 6 Tui holidays in the last 18 months, 5 being cruises. We were glad this was the case in these circumstances. The 1st week of cruise all went as planned but the 2nd week not so much. Panama (our 2nd port) closed entrance to Cruise ships but Tui managed to secure & complete a canal transit. Then Columbia closed entrance to Cruise ships so itinery was changed to Cayman Islands, but (yes you've guessed) Cayman Islands closed entrance to Cruise ships, as did Jamica. Where we were to dock in 2 ports & also disembark. Vessel now headed for the Bahama's for evacuation but negotiations secured permittion for Jamaca repatriation which consisted of Bus convoy under Police escort to tarmac side of the Cargo terminal. A few extra days at sea but all inclusive & entertainment provided. Tui also advised of 25% refund. In all - an excellent service & would recomend for future holidays.

Bizzarely covid-19 made this unique but I'll come back to that. Our Junior Suite cabin with large balcony and premier service was literally like the Tardis in terms of storage, there were drawers everywhere and small recessed shelves and cubby holes for lotions, colognes and biscuits. Plenty of hanging space for dresses and floorspace inside the wardrobe for shoes. 3 suitcases, 2 hand luggage and all the duty free just melted away. The bed was superb for me; really firm and flat. Choice of firm or soft pillows andexcellent quilt. Setee, 2 armchairs, 2 footstools, table, hair doing area, chair for doing hair, kettle and coffee maker, fridge, telly and lots of mirrors. Out on the balcony, 2 sunbeds, 2 chairs and a table. As you might imagine on a quality cruise the restaurants were outstanding with a wide range of food for all discerning tastes. We didn't use the buffet in the evening as the served dining experience in 47' left it for dead. By the same token we didn't use the speciality restaurants as there was no need. What made it different to other cruise offers is the level of staff expertise. Our Housekeeper Anastasia was our beautiful face of Tui, our customer relations, our provider of information and additional items requested and made the whole experience better. There were a couple of others worth a mention too. Lina and Omar in 47' have clearly been trained to the highest level, way beyond what you might expect on other cruises. But better again was our Captain, Jason Ikiadis who was an absolute legend and dealt with the fallout from Coronavirus in a way that not only ensured the safety of all on board but those ashore. His regular updates were superb and despite what was clearly a difficult week for him, he managed to keep us all amused. If anyone deserves a very large Hendricks and tonic, it would be him. My next Tui cruise on this ship will be booked as soon as possible. Was the premier drinks package worth it? Every penny.
