“Scamming People in Vietnam”
Review of Cambodia Angkor Air

Reviewed 2 weeks ago

We got to the airport and were told that we had to pay $5 USD PER KILO for our checked bags (terms which were nowhere to be found on their website or emails). On top of this they refused to accept credit cards and only wanted to accept US dollars in CASH. Obviously a scam by the people working the counter... Unbelievable that this still happens with a large international airport like Da Nang in an international airline. BE VERY CAREFUL WITH THIS AIRLINE

A quick flight and an early one, too, so much so that we were on the tarmac in Siem Reap 15 minutes ahead of schedule. A small airline but one that could teach the big fish a thing or two about service. Our Qantas flight out of Australia was very ordinary by comparison.

Expected the worse with this airline but it had the departure time we needed. The first time we had flown economy for a while. Check in time was okay plenty of staff. We were considerably over weight with our bags 3 pieces weighing 64kg in total. As expected we were charged excess baggage, the check in manager was courteous and reduced our cost from $140 to $90 still a little steep but as we had no boarding pass I had no choice and the flight was very cheap. I was told to wait around for around 30 mins when I was given a economy boarding pass with the seats 2A and 2C? Which of course was business, no complaints here. While waiting I noticed several others in heated arguments over baggage costs. Funny thing when we boarded the plane they were all in business also. The plane was new, clean no inflight service except for water (1 hour flight so no big deal)and departed and arrived on time.would fly again no problem. I guess the moral to the story if you gave to pay excess baggage insist on an upgrade.

Absolutely disgraceful experience with Cambodia Angkor Air. We arrived for our flight with over 2 hours to check in. After being in the queue for over an hour with no information, we asked a member of staff why we weren’t being checked in and their response was “we are full”. We booked our flight 8 months prior and the airline had somehow overbooked by ELEVEN passengers. The couple before us had managed to check in, but the airline forgot to load their baggage, meaning they will have no baggage for 24 hours.

We were offered absolutely zero alternatives other than having to get on a flight the next day, meaning we miss an airport transfer, a hotel stay and a tour, all of which has been paid for.

To top it all off, the staff were smiling and laughing while attempting to deal with the problem.

Please save yourself the disgusting service and fly with someone else.

Overbooked flight by 11 people leaving us with no other option than to stay in a hotel and fly the next day. Disgraceful customer service - Unhelpful, rude staff who seemed to find the situation funny. Book elsewhere to save the stress!
