Is any good bars near hotel LABRANDA Isla Bonita

I am staying at labranda Isla Bonita hotel on 5th July for 10 nights with husband, 2 kids age 10 & 7 and friends with kids same age. We are all inclusive but after reading reviews getting really concern about how bad it may be.

Can anyone recommend any decent bars that are near by which kids will be allowed in?

Thanks in advance.

Stayed at the Isla Bonita before and although there's a few small bars around the area, you need to go down to the beachfront where there are plenty to choose from. There is a street called Calle Paris which is just along at the roundabout to the right as you come out of the hotel then turn down this street. It's a 10 minute walk down to the beach. Most of the entertainment is along at San Eugenio area and down by the port, Porto Colon. Lots of family bars there. We are also going to be at the Hotel again on the 1st July 'til the 13th and from what i'm lead to believe, the kids club has improved a lot from when we last visited (although it was two couples rather than a family) but we are going with the family this time including a 6 and 2 year old.

As for the hotel...it's not the greatest but it does the job. Two large pools and entertainment for kids on the walkway and terrace is located. Some rooms are in need of an update but they have been for more than 10 years. Big rooms with small kitchenette area and separate bedrooms with patio doors onto the balcony from both the main and sleeping areas.

Thanks for your reply. Are the rooms clean enough then just old and dated? What the food like?

The rooms are fairly clean. Some have had facelifts and are fine. The one we were in the last time did have a few wires visible for the bedside lights and plugs, others were fine. Our fridge wasn't connected so we had to pull it out of it's place to plug it in, had to stay that way for the duration of the holiday as the wire wasn't long enough to put the fridge back into where it's supposed to be without the plug getting pulled out. The furniture was a bit dated, we even had an old box tv rather than flat screen in March 2016 so I assume some of the rest of the rooms have been updated since then.

The food itself is actually okay but the dining hall was chaos with so many people from two separate blocks in the complex all trying to get their food at the same time. It's probably what stopped us doing A.I. much after that, although with two young kids with us this time, we're giving it another go. The staff were amazing with the pressure they were under, constantly trying to clear and re-set tables as people wandered about looking for empty and cleared ones. The staff were so busy sorting this sort of stuff out that it was a fairly regular occurrence to run out of plates, cups, cutlery, coffee/tea machines would run out of something or other etc. but they sort of got there in the end with a hell of a lot of hard work. Really admired the way they just got on with it as best they could, without too much moaning.
