hi, have heard about the major road (Tower-Canyon) closing and wondered what we'll miss? Is that where the canyons are? Any other major attractions ? Be there Aug 2021. Thanks

You can see Canyon, the closure starts north of Canyon.

You will not be able to see Tower Falls, unless they open that part of the road by August. It doesn't look like they are planning to though.

This map shows where the Canyon overlooks and the falls are in relation to the closed road. https://www.nps.gov/yell/planyourvisit/canyonprojects.htm

So...in addition to the information posted by CaLa and Thbergs what you'll miss is:

Calcite Springs (and the pullouts south of there)- an overlook at the downstream end of the Yellowstone River Canyon. Nice boardwalk and trails, overlooks to see thermal activity in the Canyon, possibly seeing Peregrine Falcons, Osprey nests and Great Horned Owls, a view of columnar basalt.

Tower Fall - Nice waterfall. It's the only waterfall in the park that is called a "fall" instead of "falls".

Sweeping vistas of the mountains to the North and NE plus Mt Washburn.

Dunraven Pass - the highest road point in the park

Is it's closure enough to prevent you from coming? No, of course not. Cool things to see but there are equally as cool things elsewhere in the park.
