Weekend Trip

We are traveling to Chattanooga for a weekend trip. What are some places to visit? Also, some good restaurants and bars? There will be no kids on this trip:)

What to you like to do? There is the aquarium, the hunter museum, songbirds guitar museum at the Choo Choo, several art galleries, cool shops on the north shore, usually live music somewhere. Or, the river walk, kayak or paddle board rentals, duck boat tours, lots of hiking trails- or- for history buffs, point park on lookout, Chickamauga battlefield. To be a kid again- Rock City and the carousel on the North shore- tons of restaurants on nortshore, southside and in between- free electric shuttle from one end of town to the other- we’ve got pretty much everything and every kind of food!

Oh - most of my favorite restaurants are on the southside- casual- Clyde’s, conga -el Salvadoran food- terminal brew house, Allelia Italian and Blue Orleans. Upscale- St John. Closer into town- Two Ten Jack and Public House. Nortshore- taco mamacitas or beast and barrel or the new Portuguese restaurant across from Coolidge park- name escapes me at the moment but it is great!

Chattanooga has so many opportunities for excellent restaurants and interesting activities. It would be so helpful if you had mentioned what part of the city you are staying in. Since you did not, I will focus on the downtown area.

You can visit the Tennessee Aquarium that is amazing. Very different from others in our area. Rock City would be another choice, atop Lookout Mountain. Also, Chattanooga Ducks, Grayline Hop on-off tour, Coolidge Park, Antique Carousel, Northside, Southside, Tennessee Riverfront, Bluff View Arts District, Chattanooga Choo Choo and many locations about the Civil War History in our area.

For restaurants, there are many of them but you did not mention what you are looking for.

Downtown there is Hennen's, Easy Bistro, Alleia, Big River Grill and Brewing Company, Scotty's on the River, Public House, Puckett's, Stir, Terminal Brew House and more.

Northshore is Food Works, Beast and Barrel Gastro Smokhouse, Edley's Bar B Que and Good Dog.

Further down on the Tennessee Rive it the Boathouse. Well worth the short drive.

There are many more!! Most choices can be held with reservations. I suggest making them.

New Portuguese Restaurant on the Northshore Restaurant is Bela Lisboa.

On Sunday morning, there is a Sunday Market that offers fresh produce, arts and crafts, music, food selections, beer and fun. It is located in the Market Street Pavillion on the Southside.

Thank you.

Any good restaurants with scenic views? Any good date night restaurants? Any details on the comp shuttle around town? We are staying downtown. Planning on doing Rock City. How long should we plan to be there?

Trip Advisor qualifies and ranks everything you asked for with reviews and comments. It would be best to use the TA tools as many more have responded there than the two or three usual suspects here in the forum. Then, if you need clarification, come back to the forum to ask specifics.
