Hotel near Mission Theater

We’ll be making a trip into Portland in April, and are looking for a decent hotel within walking distance to the Mission Theater. In my early searches, it looks like the Hampton Inn is about a 10 minute walk away.

I’d appreciate other hotel options near the theater, and any can’t miss restaurants and bars nearby.

Thank you!

The Mission Theater is tucked neatly between the Pearl District and the trendy NW 23rd/NW 21st neighborhood and is a short walk to downtown, so most hotels will be in walking distance. If you are looking for something a little different, perhaps consider the Crystal Hotel run by McMenamins, which buys up historic properties and turns them into quirky hotels, restaurants, and music venues (Mission Theater is a McMenamins property). For bars, the Pope House is just a couple blocks from the theater and is a whiskey bar set in an old Victorian home. For food, try to get a table (or spot at the bar) at the Screen Door in the Pearl District.

Ken,

Thank you for your reply and the information, I’ll check it out. We’re looking into changing our planned trip to Cannon Beach to include 2 nights in Portland to start our week.

Update -

Got our show tix for both nights, at will call.

Booked room at Hampton Inn, Pearl district, will probably valet park, as we’ll have a rental for a week.

On to adjusting our Cannon Beach dates.

Thanks.

Good work. We will be at JMF too unless we are traveling for BMFS or WSP (waiting for their spring tour dates to drop).

Ken,

I’d appreciate any bar recommendations for pre-show and post-show beers, also favorite burger in Pearl district would be great. Many thanks.

For beers, the Pearl District has a number of brewpubs, including 10 Barrel, Backwoods, and Deschutes. 10 Barrel is closest to the venue (just two blocks) but of the three, Deschutes is my personal favorite because they have a limited edition porter that is only available on tap and isn't sold in stores. Deschutes also has decent burgers including an elk burger. Best burgers aren't in the Pearl however, but at a cart on NW 23rd (which is another cool neighborhood not far from the venue) called Farmer and the Beast.

For post show drinks, the brewpubs tend to close early, but the Pope House (whiskey bar in an old Victorian) and the storied Cassidy's stay open later with the dive bar Scooters next door even later than that:
