I hope someone can help with some early planning for a trip in June of 2025. Four of us are taking the train from Vancouver, Canada to Portland and renting a car to drive to McMinnville for a week. Then we will be flying out of Portland. Is it easy to get to the airport from the train station to pick up a car? Any suggestions or advice?

It's easy, but why?
Why not pick up a car closer to downtown and return in there (then take a cab or MAX to the airport) or at the airport?
You will pay somewhat more renting a car at the airport, due to concession fees. There are several name-brand car rentals downtown within a short walk of Union Station, or you can take a taxi, the bus, or the light rail. Hertz has a place on Pine Street.

If you have access to google maps and know how to use it, search for car rentals in downtown. But i would also check/verify they will be open when you arrive.
Its somewhat easy to get from train to airport.. but you could ask to drop off at airport too.

The savings were huge, but as we were dropping off our rental car downtown, someone in front of us was carjacked at gunpoint. Scared us pretty bad so I'm not so sure that I'm willing to try that again.
