Columbia River Gorge, Mt. Hood Scenic Drive, Fruit Loop

I would like to see all of these in one day. I will be leaving from a hotel near the airport in late May. I won't be doing any long hikes, just seeing the falls and the scenery.

What route should I take? What are the recommended stops?

East on either I-84 or I-84 to the Historic Columbia River Hwy.

Then south on Hwy 35 to 26 to head west to Timberline Lodge.

Hwy 26 west back to Portland.

https://issuu.com/traveloregon2019/docs/scenicbywaysguide_english This online publication has info on Scenic Byways.

Starting Memorial Day weekend, an entry permit may be required for Multnomah Falls. Information on this is usually determined by the end of March.

I also suggest you do the loop in a clockwise direction, so Mt. Hood is in your windshield as you drive OR-35.
