Akumal in one day - no car & no tour

Hi, we're going to be in Akumal tomorrow for the day taking a bus from Cancun. We don't want to take a tour or snorkel but would like to get a feel for the place, walk, swim and eat. is it easy to walk around without needing a taxi?

Which beaches would you recommend for us to visit as a must? Is it easy to rent a golf cart for a few hours? Any advice/thoughts/recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

ADO bus will stop in PDC and Tulum - not between

Infrequent Mayab buses will stop - most use the colectivos.

The main Akumal Bay - as you walk into the beack (Playa) is lined with tour agents (sharks) who will lie and say you must buy a tour from them and the beach is closed to public - ignore -

Goto the Lol-Ha restaurant via the White Arches hotel entrance and snorkel from there - you can also rent golf carts for $40 US for 1 day by the White Arches - to visit the bay to the north and Yal-Ku Lagoon

Read the top questions on the right and the last 5-10 pages of threads to learn about Akumal.

Have fun
