camp sites?

camp sites?

I’m wondering about areas in or around Bonavista (within 15/20min drive) suitable for either tenting or car camping.

Either a proper campground or a somewhat private area where I could get my car

Thanks

The best tent sites on the peninsula are probably in Lockston Path Provincial Park, but that’s about 45 min from Bonavista. For a place to just pull in, like freecamping, Route 235 between Kings Cove and Bonavista there are some places where you could pull off your car, it’s a less travelled road so usually no one to bother you. For example, the brook access road in Hodderville often has campers parked, the brook at Birchy Cove might do for an evening pull-in too. You might also find a quiet spot on the southern Elliston access, a few km after leaving Catalina, look for route 238 on the right ( left if you’re coming from a Bonavista). There’s also a small campground at Sandy Cove, between Elliston and Maberley.

+1 for camping at Sandy Cove in Elliston's Municipal park. Looked like real nice place to stop for the night.
