Best route to Albuquerque?

Hello,

Long time reader, first time poster. The family and I will be in town for one night on our way to Albuquerque for the Balloon Fiesta. What is the best route to take to Albuquerque and why? I'd like us to be in Albuquerque around noon if possible. Thanks...

From Farmington get to US550 in Aztec or Bloomfield, head south for 3+ hours and you will be in Abq. This is the fastest and easiest route.

I would just add you might want to take 45 minutes to visit the Aztec National Monument in Aztec. Pueblo ruins, visitor's center, and the only restored, underground kiva in the U.S. The small fee is worth the admission just to visit this splendid re-creation alone.

US-550 is an excellent, 4-lane highway. If you are passing through Cuba, NM around lunch time, try El Brunos in the "downtown" area. One of New Mexico's top Green Chile Cheeseburgers in both size and taste, plus many other menu items. Nice, Southwestern ambiance also.

Thanks for the suggestions NM_Photojournalist. The Aztec National Monument looks interesting. Hopefully we can get off to an early start that day so we can make a couple stops along the way.

Any route that takes you by Farmington's only good restaurant (Something Special BAkery & Tea Room) would be my recommendation.
