Driving to Burt Lake from Traverse City airport

Having a sisters weekend early June. We’ll be renting a car at the airport and want to know if there are any grocery stores along the way. We’ll be arriving late afternoon so we think we should shop first then drive to the lake.

We’d like to stock up to prepare our own meals and buy some wine too.

No, no grocery stores in northern Michigan you’ll have to bring your own food from New York :-)

Where on Burt is the cottage located? Obviously it’s a large inland lake so if you’re not near Indian River you’ll have fewer choices once you’re at the cottage .

With regards to your trip over from Traverse City, Yes, on the east side of Petoskey you will drive by a Fresh Market, right on M 31 (which is the route between Traverse City and BL)

Ken‘s market in Indian river has pretty much everything you’ll need.

If you want upscale wine, meat and seafood Toski Sands on the Harbor Petoskey Road is a few minutes out of your way. Also there’s the grain train in downtown Petoskey for organic stuff .

Near the traverse city airport there’s a Tom’s Food market. There’s also a natural Food market near the airport also.

Hint if you pull up the area on Google maps and then search for “grocery stores” they will pop up on the map.

You can also search for a particular place like Toski Sands and it will pop up on the map
